The property

Please note that there are major building work, demolition and construction occurring in front and behind Surfs Edge, levels of activity fluctuate. Surfs Edge is a three-story, detached holiday home in Polzeath, Cornwall, that sits on an elevated position overlooking the sea. This pet-friendly home features a nautical theme throughout and includes a main house and annexe with off-road parking, an enclosed garden and open-plan living, making it ideal for large family gatherings, especially with the beach and local amenities a stone's throw away. After your long car journey, the first thing you will want to do is potter the few minutes walk down the cut-through path to the beach and sink your toes into the glistening sand and salty waters of Polzeath! As the name suggests, Surfs Edge gives you the ultimate convenience of being just a short wander away from the some of the best waves in Cornwall and means you have an abundance of activities to do right on your doorstep. After climbing the stone steps into the main home with a reverse-level design, head directly upstairs to the open-plan living space with a large, plush corner sofa positioned in front of a Smart TV and woodburning stove. There's also a fully-equipped kitchen with a range master and an American-style fridge/freezer, as well as a utility, cloakroom, and dining seating. This social, laid back design will allow you to spend plenty of time with the family and the chef of the group will be delighted with the open space and communal feel of this airy room. Let the Cornish breeze flood in by opening the large patio doors that lead out to the balcony, which has far-reaching views across Polzeath and the sea, sure to be your favourite sunset spot with a glass of wine. When you are ready to recharge at the end of the day you can retreat into the master bedroom with double bed and your own en-suite shower room. To complete the first floor, there is another cosy bedroom with a single day bed, handy if you have younger children who need to be closer to parents at night time. Downstairs, for the rest of your family the ground floor has three further bedrooms: a double with a glass door out to the garden, a twin overlooking the garden and bunk bedroom whose bed features two single bunks. To top it off downstairs there is an impressive bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower and sunken bath for ultimate relaxation; the bath even features a jacuzzi setting to be able to spoil yourself even more. For further accommodation, inside the same building through a door within the main entrance area you can head down the sets of stairs into the annexe which provides a great self-contained area of its own and offers a mezzanine double bedroom and bathroom featuring a bath and shower overhead. Guests here can separate themselves when they wish and enjoy their own open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a TV; perfect for couples or grandparents searching for a retreat! Once your return from your day out or if you prefer to spend the day relaxing, summer days can be enjoyed in your own enclosed garden, where you may dine alfresco and soak up the sun. For a true break from the rush of modern life, here you can park up the car and leave it at the house while you explore on foot, a rare treat while on holiday. After checking the surf from the house in the morning, keen early birds can grab their surfboard and head straight to the beach to catch the best waves in the area, safe in the knowledge you can return to wash off sand in the heated external shower afterwards! The village of Polzeath boasts small shops to provide your daily groceries as well as an art gallery, surf store and boutique clothing store to potter in. Pull on your walking boots at Surf's Edge and take the coastal path which you can join just around the corner from the front door and trek out to the National Trust Pentire Point for panoramic views of the Camel Estuary. Walking south from the beach you can take the path over the cliffs to Greenaway Beach for rock pooling or follow the walk along to Daymer Bay; another family friendly beach with gentler, lapping waves. Finish up back at Polzeath to indulge in a variety of eateries, including The Waterfront, Cracking Crab, and Oystercatcher and watch the stunning sunsets from Polzeath Beach. The close-by fishing village of Rock hosts a number of watersports and dunes to walk in, while the town of Wadebridge nearby provides retail therapy and local amenities. Be sure to catch the foot ferry from Rock to the hub of Padstow; from here you can visit the National Lobster Hatchery, hike the coast to St George's Cove, or bring your bikes to explore the Camel Trail. Exploring further you will find Bodmin Moor, Port Isaac, and Tintagel, famed for its local legends of King Arthur and Merlin, among the most popular attractions nearby. Surfs Edge offers a beach getaway in Cornwall to spend quality time with your loved ones.

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
