“I was surprised that basic salt and pepper was not in the cupboard.”

The dish washer did not work. The bathroom upstairs would benefit from a shower hose on the bath too as it is very difficult with separate taps.

The property

Located at the top of the village, Haven Cottage is a deceptively spacious self-catering holiday house with everything you need for a successful, easy holiday on the North Cornwall coast. With its lawned garden, patio area and parking for 3 cars, Haven Cottage is a practical holiday base, accommodating 6 people in 3 bedrooms. Within easy reach of shops, galleries and cafes, it is a couple of minutes walk down hill to the historic fishing harbour and the beach.A sociable open-plan kitchen-diner has all the equipment you need for effortless cooking; alternatively enjoy fish and chips idling on the harbour wall, looking out to sea. After a wonderful day out, come home and light the wood burner for an extra cosy feel. The double bedroom on the ground floor has an en-suite shower, while upstairs, the double bedroom with a sea view shares a bathroom with a twin bedroom. There are many attractions in Port Isaac to keep holiday makers occupied: walkers come for the stunning and challenging coastal path that stretches all the way around Cornwall; fine diners arrive to sample the latest dish from Nathan Outlaw, the double Michelin star seafood chef; and of course fans of the Doc Martin TV series, will love to visit the film set and will be interested to join the 'walk and talk' tours around the village. These aside, Port Isaac is a fascinating village in which to while away the time, exploring the winding streets, relaxing on the slipway with a pint or shrimping in the rock pools, all the while absorbing its characterful atmosphere. Nearby in Port Quin and Port Gaverne you can try your hand at coasteering, kayaking or paddle boarding or just take a dip in the calm waters to explore some smugglers caves - if you dare!Ground Floor: Sitting Room Kitchen/Diner Utility Room Bedroom 1: Double bed, en suite shower/WC Separate WC First Floor: Bedroom 2: king bed,sea view Bedroom 3: Twin beds Bathroom/WC Sorry No Pets.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
