“This is a very comfortable and tastefully furnished cottage internally.”

It is well-equipped and maintained and was spotlessly clean. The exterior does not quite match up to the attractive interior - the cottage has a rather odd outlook and the small garden is accessible only from the main bedroom (this was pointed out in the description). It's an advantage to have any parking in Post Isaac and this cottage does have a small space right outside. It's an advantage to have any parking in Post Isaac and this cottage does have a small space right outside. Overall we enjoyed the stay, but could have done with a better photograph of the front of the cottage to have had a complete picture of the kind of house this was. The check-in/check-out times do mean that you lose almost a day as well. The latter is becoming common to all rentals, though it is not universal by any means.

The property

Nestled in the winding lanes of the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac, Mino Cottage is a stylish and welcoming self catering holiday home, sleeping 4 across 2 bedrooms. Recently renovated to a high standard, original features have been highlighted and combined with modern additions to create a home from home you can relax in and explore from. Park conveniently outside and step inside onto beautiful Cornish flagstone slate flooring which leads through into the newly fitted, modern kitchen. Equipped for all your cookery needs, the up to date facilities make it a pleasure to spend time in here and whip up local produce in to a family feast, with a dining table at the far end of the room by the large window. In the next room is the elegantly decorated living room, complete with characterful beams and offering a comfortable sofa, arm chair and a smart TV to ensure you have your home comforts while on holiday. There is a stunning feature stone fireplace with a woodburner to keep you cosy in the winter months, although the downstairs underfloor heating will no doubt be a welcome addition so you can keep the bare feet feel of Cornwall here, even outside the summer months. The artwork lends a nautical touch here and is mirrored upstairs in the bedrooms, creating a wonderful flow through the cottage. The fantastic use of natural materials in the furnishings is also carried through upstairs as the stunning wooden beams are shown off in the apex of the roof, giving the bedrooms a feeling of extra space and airiness. In the master bedroom a stylish wooden sleigh bed awaits you, with a TV so that you can escape here for a little time snuggled up with a boxset. Following the painted floorboards across the landing you will find the plush family bathroom with a shower over the bath to make bathing little ones a doddle. The twin bedroom offers adults or children a cosy space to rest at the end of the day in comfort. A fantastic feature of Mino Cottage is your own terraced patio with sea views, garden and gravelled area outside; accessed via a door in the master bedroom upstairs. Step down and follow it around the corner to the patio area with outside table and benches, making al fresco dining a tempting option in fine weather, sloping down via a ramp to a grass lawn. Look out from here over the rooftops and gaze at the crystal waters of the sea; with the palm tree in the garden adding to that holiday feel. Designed for outdoor living, the gravelled area at the bottom of the steps down from the lawn even has an outside kitchen area with a built in charcoal barbecue! Bring your coals and don your apron as this gives you the facility to prepare outside and cook outside to your heart’s content. Picking up seafood for your evening barbecue is a tempting option in Port Isaac as it comes in from the harbour by the local fishermen. Trot down to the harbour and see the boats for yourself as they potter in with their local catch. For your nights off cooking, you will find plenty of tempting options in the neighbouring restaurants at Nathan Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen opposite the harbour and New Road restaurant at the top of the village, the Slipway Restaurant and Mote or Golden Lion pubs. Meander slowly through the narrow lanes and dip in and out of the boutique shops and the local galleries, perhaps stopping in one of the lovely cafés along the way. If venturing out of the village, you will find the smaller inlets of Port Quin and Port Gaverne where kayaking and snorkelling are popular and further south the surfing village of Polzeath and sandy beaches of Daymer Bay approximately 10-15 minutes drive away. With the South West Coastal Path stretching all the way here, you can choose a stretch anywhere along this North Coast of Cornwall to hike and see panoramic views of the Camel Estuary. For sailing enthusiasts, Camel Sailing and Powerboat Centre and the Rock Sailing and Waterski Club offer courses to suit all abilities with Shrimper week in June a popular event for locals and holiday guests alike.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
