“This property is all about the amazing view.”

It is tastefully furnished to a high standard and had everything we needed. The bathrooms are modern and shower pressure was good. The instructions given in advance about how to connect to the internet were wrong and I wasted half an hour figuring that out. Parking was a real bonus for Port Isaac. Everything was great except that when we arrived the dirty linen from the previous guests was piled up in the hall. Not what you'd expect in these times when Covid Safe standards of cleanliness are so important. This might have been excused if something had been done about it when I reported it the next morning. My first phone call to Sykes at 9am appeared to have been ignored. When I phoned back at lunchtime I was brushed off with a 'we'll get round to it in due course' response. Eventually I had no option but to inform them I'd be moving it outside the front of the house in the rain. It took them another couple of hours to pick it up after that. This sort of response to a hygiene issue just isn't good enough and falls well below the standard one should expect at any time let alone in the midst of a pandemic. It's not the level of service we would have received from the old John Bray, who were always so helpful, so clearly Sykes have allowed standards to slip.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
