    “The garden was overgrown when we arrived and there was a strange smell in the house.”

    The tap in the kitchen and one of the loos didn’t work . The kitchen was ill equipped with no drinking glasses and ‘airline cutlery’. There was no broom to keep the place clean. There was also no internet for 2 days.

There was also no internet for 2 days. It took asking the people in the office 3 times face to face to get the internet, glasses and broom sorted out over 2 days. The grass wasn’t mowed until the day before we left.

The property

The Garden House is a traditionally styled, spacious and light-filled self-catering bungalow situated in a quiet residential area in Rock, on the North Cornwall coast. Located in a very convenient location, the holiday house is only a short walk from the village shops. Sleeping 8-10 in 4 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms, ideal for family and friends and the welcome option of bringing along your family pets (by arrangement). There is ample off road parking, an enclosed sunny garden with a patio. The garden has lovely mature hedging, a good-sized lawned area and a sunny terrace where families can play and enjoy relaxed suppers. Two of the bedrooms at The Garden House have twin beds, one has two sets of bunk beds and a fourth has a king size bed with an en-suite bathroom. There is an open plan kitchen/dining room with French doors leading out to the terrace, where on warm days you can throw the doors open and this sociable space extends into the charming garden. On chilly evenings or wintry days, the separate sitting room has the benefit of an open fire.Trelyn is a good walk, or a five-minute drive down to the waterfront of Rock but a shorter walk to the unspoilt cove of Porthilly. Rock, Porthilly and nearby Daymer Bay are all dog-friendly year round with Polzeath enforcing a ban during the high season (Easter to October). Rock village has a good-sized grocers, bakers, butchers, newsagent and deli so all your needs can be catered for close by. Eating out opportunities range from fine dining at the St Enodoc hotel to take away fish and chips and everything in between. Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.
