“We had a fantastic stay at Elmwood.”

The house was modern, exceptionally clean, well presented, just as the photos show and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Beds comfortable with lovely linen. Elmwood is in a pretty hamlet within a short drive to all the lovely beaches and places we wanted to visit close by and reasonably priced in comparison to others in more central locations. We actually preferred coming back to the peacefulness after a busy day than being in the busier areas that we have stayed ...

Elmwood is in a pretty hamlet within a short drive to all the lovely beaches and places we wanted to visit close by and reasonably priced in comparison to others in more central locations. We actually preferred coming back to the peacefulness after a busy day than being in the busier areas that we have stayed previously. There aren’t any shops within walking distance but a great farm shop with all the essentials you need a 5 minute drive away. We will definitely be booking again.

Polzeath 3.6 miles. Tucked away in the centre of Trelights, just over three miles from Polzeath's famed surfing beach and the Doc Martin film set in Port Isaac, is this fabulous holiday home, Elmwood. This contemporary base, which has four tastefully appointed bedrooms, welcomes families keen to explore Cornwall's magnificent coast and countryside. After a day of wandering the South West Coastal Path, retire to the living room and relax next to the woodburning stove, flicking on the Smart TV for an evening of entertainment. The enclosed garden patio is accessible through bi-folding doors, providing a pleasant spot to take in the sounds of the countryside while sipping a cool beverage. The kitchen features a fresh palette of white and grey tones, as well as a good selection of appliances, so you can whip up a home-cooked meal with fresh items from the local Trevathan Farm Shop. To rinse your beach gear and prepare for the next day on the beach, there is a separate utility space with an outdoor hose. Head upstairs to find the four tastefully decorated bedrooms: the master has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room, as well as a super-king-size with zip/link beds, a double, and a twin with zip/link beds. A contemporary bathroom with a choice of bath or shower above serves the bedrooms. Take a short walk up the hill to the Longcross Hotel, where you may sample some delectable local fare while appreciating the expansive rural and coastal vistas. A local farm shop, which not only sells fresh goods and a café, but also has a lovely area for children to play in and animals to help the Trevathan crew feed while you take a well-deserved coffee break before returning to your holiday cottage, is also within walking distance. Within three miles of Polzeath, which is well-known for its extensive stretches of sand, surfing, and stunning coastal walks along the South West Coast Path, and Harbor Isaac, a historic fisherman's port. Polzeath features surf hire and instructors that can guide you from basic to advanced levels, plus there’s a whole host of quirky eateries after you build up an appetite. Take a day trip to Port Isaac for Doc Martin enthusiasts to enjoy the catch of the day, delectable cream teas, and, of course, to see Doc Martin's house on Roscarrock Hill. Elmwood is a delightful holiday home, whatever time of year.

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

Please note bedroom 2 has a super king size bed and bedroom 3 has twin beds as standard. If you would like these to be configured differently, please contact us to advise. The property has a small coal BBQ.
