The property

Located just a little way up Church Hill, from the busy working harbour in the historic part of Port Isaac, Kicker Cottage is a beautifully presented former traditional fisherman’s cottage. Oozing bundles of character and charm with exposed beams, sash windows, natural slate flooring and the original inglenook fireplace, this cottage offers cosy family accommodation with locally rare and extensive pretty terraced gardens and a patio boasting breath-taking harbour and sea views. Sleeping 5-6 in 3 comfortable bedrooms, the self catering cottage also welcomes your family pets and has allocated parking on Church Hill for 1 car. The sitting room is charming and generously furnished; light the wood burner set withing the huge stone fireplace for snug evenings in during colder months. A pretty kitchen has everything you will need to cook up the catch of the day; fresh fish, shellfish and crab can be purchased from the fish market next to the slipway. The 3 well presented bedrooms are all on the first floor, have wardrobes and share a family bathroom. The upper garden terrace offers a lovely place to unwind and look out over the village and out to sea. You will love getting to know Port Isaac’s busy working harbour and quaint village, made famous by the Doc Martin TV series and the film of the sea shanty singers Fisherman’s Friends. The village boasts excellent restaurants and cafes including 2 run by Michelin 2-star chef, Nathan Outlaw, where you can slake your appetite and thirst after a busy day exploring the coast or fine sandy beaches. Young children will love exploring the rock pools both here and at nearby Port Gaverne. Don’t miss the vast sandy beach at Polzeath, popular with swimmers and surfers of all ages. About the location

Polzeath 6 miles; Padstow 9 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

Please note: There are steep steps to the terraced garden so care should be taken with children, the elderly and may not be suitable for people with mobility problems. The double bed in bedroom 3 is a small double (4ft).
