The property

The Chalet is a stunning apartment featuring studio open plan living across two levels at the top of Port Isaac village. Wooden clad and modern in interior design, this garden-room style chalet is the ideal romantic retreat for a couple or as an escape for anyone with family and friends holidaying locally and wanting their own personal space. After taking in the beautiful sea view outside the front door, step inside and down onto the ground floor into the kitchen area, uniquely designed with galley style utilities on one side and bespoke wraparound wooden breakfast bar with stools on the other; perfect for sitting together and planning your day’s adventures. Step up three wide steps into the living area, which combines a contemporary design with home comforts in its facilities and a nod to Nordic warmth in the use of natural materials and Scandi simplicity in décor. Careful thought has been given to privacy inside with higher side windows providing shafts of light with larger glass doors at either end of The Chalet. The large picture windows and door to the garden let the light and fresh air stream in during the day time, while the rocking chair is a lovely feature to relax in at the end of a day out, why not log in to your Netflix account on the smart TV to catch up on a boxset or film together. After spending your day out exploring the local coves and perhaps hiking the South West Coastal Path, you can return in the knowledge that you can hang up your wet outdoor gear and wetsuits outside and then freshen up in the cleverly-arranged bathroom features an inviting, spacious walk in shower, with the feature floor tiles and wooden clad walls making it a stylish area for spending time in. If you need a little space of your own here, there is a raised snug nook where you can step up to from the living area; somewhere you can crawl into, lay out the squashy cushions down and lie back with a captivating holiday novel. To rest and recharge, there is a unique and exciting bedroom with a difference; a built in king sized bed on the ground floor level within the studio living space. Shut out the world, curl up at night here and feel as if you’re in your own coastal haven. When the morning comes, step outside onto the decking and take your first coffee of the day outside on the tiered Astroturf area (which ensures you have a pristine lawn all year round!) and take in the views of the sea. The surroundings mean it is a fantastic sun trap area and the picnic bench on the bark area just off from the decking gives a good excuse for taking your lunch outside. The delights of Port Isaac are on your doorstep here as you can easily potter straight from The Chalet down into the village. All too conveniently(!) just across New Road there is a tempting café, Nathan Outlaw’s New Road restaurant and boutique shop. Walk down through the winding lanes to the traditional harbour, where fishing boats still pootle in and out of the harbour, bringing their catch up the slipway at high tide. Spot the familiar sights from the Doc Martin series and Fishermen’s Friends films on fine summer evenings you can even watch the band sing their shanties on the harbour. Venturing down the coast, Port Quin is a smaller cove which is a great spot for snorkelling, kayaking and taking guided coasteering tours. Further along the coast are the popular surfing beach at Polzeath, lapping shores of Daymer Bay and long sands at Rock, the latter of which also offers a foot ferry across to Padstow for retail therapy. Otherwise, head north from Port Isaac to take in the rugged coastline around Tintagel and climb up to the famous castle ruins or for a hike inland, why not visit St. Nectans Glen near Bossiney where you can walk through the valley to paddle under the cascading waterfall. The Chalet provides a unique holiday home to retreat to in an ideal location from which to explore the local coastline and countryside.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

Polzeath 6 miles; Padstow 9 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

Please note, the house next door is currently undergoing home improvements. There is no private parking but the nearest public car park is 0.1 miles away, there may be space on Tintagel Terrace too but as it is not designated, it is first come first served so not guaranteed.
