“The cottage was in an excellent location, within an easy walking distance to the beach, bars and restaurants.”

We loved the quaint and dainty feel of the cottage which suited us for a short stay but some may feel it's smaller than it appears in the photographs. We were extremely pleased with the updated shower room! Underfloor heating downstairs was a lovely surprise! The cottage was beautifully clean on arrival and had everything we needed. The wooden stairs and steps within the property are quite steep and I would say not suitable for very young children or short legged/elderly dogs. (Our small dog ...

We were extremely pleased with the updated shower room! Underfloor heating downstairs was a lovely surprise! The cottage was beautifully clean on arrival and had everything we needed. The wooden stairs and steps within the property are quite steep and I would say not suitable for very young children or short legged/elderly dogs. (Our small dog struggled with them). Overall we had a delightful stay but I would suggest a 10am check out time when guests are expected to strip all beds and put linen in the linen bags provided with additional check list to fill in as 9am was a bit of a rush.

The property

The Fo'c'sle is an absolutely delightful little fisherman's cottage offering cosy accommodation for four or a romantic getaway for two on the North Cornwall coast. A parking space is available at the top of Church Hill for one vehicle, located a short uphill walk from the cottage. Stroll down towards Port Isaac's sheltered harbour passing numerous 18th century fisherman's cottages steeped in history will only take a few minutes.This gem of a holiday cottage has charm and atmosphere inside and out, with a lovely patio garden to sun bathe in and a comfortable bright sitting room to hunker down in on cooler days. The sitting room and the twin bedroom both have splendid vaulted ceilings with a mixture of painted and natural beams. A sunny little kitchen has a door leading out onto the slabbed patio, where the light can flood in. There is also a downstairs bathroom with a fresh, white and seaside theme.Vibrant Port Isaac village is incredibly picturesque to wander about. Explore the narrow winding streets and seek out little galleries, cafes and a wonderful selection of restaurants making the most of the fishermen's daily catch. Many of the village cottages, shops and locations will seem familiar from their frequent appearances on film and TV in Poldark and Doc Martin. The stunning coastlines that surround the harbour are accessible via the many coastal footpaths found here and are well worth a visit. Bird and wildlife enthusiasts can spot cormorants, peregrine falcons, seals and very occasionally dolphins or even massive basking sharks. Sightseeing and fishing trips can be enjoyed in high season from the harbour. Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
