    “We had a fantastic week at the slipway, our only criticisms are, the bathroom sink was blocked with grime and hair and water was not running away( I did take a photo), also the parking for two cars is a bit tight if other houses are occupied .”

    I suspect the downstairs shower grill may also be blocked as water didn’t run away easily but that needed someone with tools to get up. The cottage itself is comfortable and very well equipped, it’s in a prime spot with easy access to everything.

Slipway & Anchorage

The Slipway properties are all located at the bottom of Rock, on the other side of the road from the Rock Sailing club slipway.  There are three terrace rows of houses that alll have South facing aspects and balconies and offer a perfect spot to have family groups rent multiple properties so each family can be in the same place as their friends but also have some space and time to themselves..

The property

Slipway 6 is an end of terrace holiday cottage enjoying fantastic views across the Camel estuary from the upstairs balcony and sitting room. Private parking for two cars and a garage makes this a practical and brilliantly located self catering cottage in Rock for 6 guests in 3 bedrooms with a bathroom and a shower room, ideal for a few couples sharing or a family. Pets can come along too, the dog walking is wonderful straight from the front door. Rock offers a vibrant, nautical atmosphere in the high season and a peaceful seaside retreat the rest of the year. The ground floor has a garage, a utility room and a shower room, ideal for storing sailing or beach kit and somewhere to wash the salt away. Take the stairs up to the lounge/dining room and compact kitchen where the sliding double glazed door reveals the far-reaching views across Porthilly Cove and the Camel Estuary. A twin bedded room with a wash hand basin is also located on the first floor, whilst upstairs two zip and link bedrooms and the bathroom are on the second floor, one of which has a small balcony overlooking the slipway down to the iconic Sailing Club building and more of those fabulous estuary views.The cottage is next door to the Mariners pub/restaurant and a short walk from the shops, cafes and bars at the end of the road. Just in front is the slipway onto Rock beach or in the other direction a footpath down to Porthilly Cove (accessible on low tides from this point ). Take the passenger ferry to Padstow, where sitting in one of the many cafes or pubs is a relaxing way to while away the hours watching the world go by. Stroll around the art galleries and gift shops or walk up the pretty winding streets that flow down towards the picturesque harbour where working fishing boats and pleasure crafts jostle for position within the sheltered harbour walls. Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country.
