“The broadband was very slow, Half the TV channels didn't work.”

The furniture really needs updating and carpets replacing.

The property

Thyme Bank is a charming, characterful holiday house positioned close to Daymer Bay, enjoying gorgeous views over the Camel estuary and Brea hill. Join the footpath to walk across the golf course and reach the beach. Polzeath beach is also conveniently close, no more than a 5 minute drive or a rousing jog along the beautiful cliff path. Set within an attractive, mature garden, Thyme Bank has the advantage of a South-facing sun deck, fabulous for relaxing outside while absorbing the panoramic surroundings. Four well-furnished bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, sleep 8 people. Pets are welcome to stay here by arrangement and will adore the freedom and space of dog-friendly Daymer and Rock beaches. The bedroom on the first floor boasts a lovely little terrace with awesome views; a secret spot to sunbathe with coffee and newspapers. Relax in the choice of comfy seating and get cosy around the wood burner and the TV or face out towards the garden and the glorious views. A practical utility room and separate shower room by the back door are really handy for washing off stubborn grains of sand after a play in the sea.Daymer Bay is a lovely holiday destination for all the family, particularly for young children who will love to go crabbing in the rock pools and have a go at building dams across the streams. Polzeath beach ticks the box for budding surfers, swimmers and paddle-boarders with a busy, buzzy atmosphere, it's a great spot for a sundowner at one of the good cafes and restaurants. Keen sailors will love the challenge of the tides at Rock; rent a dinghy from the sailing school and tack upriver, spotting little egrets and cormorants as you float along. About the location

Polzeath 1.3 miles; Rock 2.3 miles.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders, with the gentle waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. At low tide you can walk across the sand to the village of Rock to indulge in a spot of retail therapy or a bite to eat at one of the many delicious eateries, or catch the short ferry ride and explore the delights of Padstow. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.
