“We had a wonderful week again in Greenaway Heights.”

We love this house and everything about it and felt very lucky to be able to enjoy it for the third year. Please pass on our thanks to the owners and tell them just how much we appreciate everything about the house. It was lovely having the second outdoor seating area and the cushions. Thank you We very much hope to be back next year!

The property

Greenaway Heights enjoys a fabulously elevated position set between Daymer bay and Polzeath with breathtaking views from Stepper to Pentire point on the North Cornwall coast. A luxurious self-catering holiday house, Greenaway Heights is set along a very quiet private road on the clifftops above Greenaway beach. With more than adequate space for 10 guests in 5 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, this comfortable property is perfectly suited to a large gathering of family or friends. The enclosed gardens are private and sheltered with the terrace providing an ideal sun-trap, bordered by colourful plants and easily accessed via the expansive sitting room. Greenaway Heights is beautifully furnished throughout and well equipped with plenty of light pouring in through the sizeable windows and glass doors. Many of the principle rooms on the ground floor have doors leading out to the garden or slate terrace and on warm days you can wander seamlessly throughout the house and gardens. Salty children and tired surfers can use the handy outside shower and hang up wetsuits and kit in the practical wet room off the utility. Greenaway Heights offers a place for everyone; quiet sofas where adults can read or relax, a media room where teenagers can lounge about, play music or watch TV and an enclosed garden where small children can play games. The master bedroom has a super king sized bed with an en-suite bathroom and sitting area. There are two further double bedrooms, while bedrooms 4 and 5 both have twin beds and all offer wonderful sea views of the Atlantic ocean. Greenaway beach is a diverse and unspoilt gem, with incredible rock pools at low tide and endlessly changeable high tides; sometimes calm and flat but huge waves occasionally race up the beach on a big swell or during a winter's storm. Along the tideline shell seekers and beachcombers can seek out lots of fascinating treasures while the children enjoy hours in the rock pools with fishing nets. Wadebridge is the nearest town only a 6-mile drive away where you'll find supermarkets, independent shops, and a cinema. Other nearby beaches include the surfing hub at Polzeath and the gentle sheltered Daymer Bay; both can be accessed via the coastal path. A short drive away lies Port Isaac, a vibrant historic fisherman's village, also home to Nathan Outlaw's Michelin starred restaurants. Sailors and water skiers will gravitate towards Rock, with its sailing club and ski school, you can also catch the ferry from here across to Padstow harbour. About the location

DAYMER BAY

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers with the waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.
