“Despite the weather, we had a lovely family week in Malindi.”

As you will know, we have been staying in Polzeath for many years so tend to return to the usual, familiar haunts/beaches!

The property

Malindi is a compact, detached beach style holiday chalet, ideally located above the golden sandy beach at Polzeath, with the most glorious sea views right across the bay towards Pentire Point. A fantastic location for surfers or swimmers who can take advantage of the conservatory whatever the weather to check the surf and tidal conditions before they venture out. Accessed via a private road, there is parking for two cars. The house has an enclosed lawned garden and can happily sleep 8 in four cosy bedrooms, making it fantastic for two families or a group of friends. The living areas at Malindi are bright and sunny, the sounds of the surf will constantly remind you how close you are to the wonderful Atlantic ocean. There is one bedroom with a kingsize bed, two rooms with twin beds and a double bedroom with an ensuite, with a further family bathroom. The open plan living areas lead out onto a wooden balcony, perfect for an evening drink whilst watching the sun sink down into the sea. A blue flag beach, Polzeath has a good selection of beach shops and places to eat out, all of which are only a short stroll from the property. There are surf schools and coasteering activities all available from the beach for the adventurous members of your party. The sensational coastal paths can take you from the beach up to Pentire point and beyond towards Lundy bay, Epphaven and Port Isaac. The other direction is less rugged and there are many little coves and inlets to be found along the way towards the calmer waters of dog-friendly Daymer bay. A short drive away in the Camel Estuary lies Rock, with its broad sweeping beach perfect for dog-walking and where sailing and water skiing are very popular. Crossing the water from Rock to Padstow is a delightful short ferry ride. About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
