“We have stayed in Pengelly several times and it is a home from home to us.”

It is well provided and we love it. The weather was not kind to us on this occasion, bu Pengelly was warm and welcoming and it was no hardship to spend time indoors. Our stay coincided with the petrol shortage so we did not go out and about very much, which made it even more satisfactory that we were so comfortable in the house.

The property

Pengelly is a contemporary seaside retreat for a large family or group of friends. It is a deceptively spacious house, which is comfortably furnished and well equipped. Pengelly can sleep 6 guests soundly in three bedrooms; two twin rooms plus a queen sized bed in the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom.Guests staying at the holiday house have the use of a private tennis court, perfect for burning off any excess energy not already expended in the many water sports the north Cornwall coast has to offer. The small garden and sunny patio at Pengelly is beautifully sheltered from the breezes coming off the glorious Atlantic ocean. The cottage is located close to the beaches at Polzeath, Greenaway and Daymer Bay. If you’re not barbecuing on the terrace or relaxing in front of the wood-burner, why not take a short stroll down to Polzeath and enjoy some of the hustle and bustle of this popular surfing village?Polzeath is a very good location for surfers, whilst beach combers and walkers have amazingly diverse coastal paths to explore. The incredible wildlife that can be spotted from the nearby Pentire point can include seals, dolphins and porpoises and there are many places to sit down to enjoy the views. About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
