The property

The Bakehouse in Port Isaac is a delightful and cosy retreat for two where you can embrace sea side life on the North Cornwall coast. This charming whitewashed cottage sleeps two guests in one bedroom and retains many original features including beamed ceilings and thick stone walls. Tucked away in Middle Street just yards from Port Isaac's fishing harbour and beach, it is a perfect romantic getaway from which to roam around north Cornwall's stunning coastline. Although there is no parking at the cottage, you can unload your luggage close to the property. There are two long stay car parks at the top of the village approximately 10 and 15 minutes walk away. Please ask us if you want to chat about this before booking. This retreat has been beautifully modernised throughout with white washed walls, soft greys, lemon and gentle tones throughout. Open the cheery blue front door and you'll find yourself immediately in the open plan living, dining and kitchen area. To the right you'll find the gorgeous living area, complete with comfy velvet sofa, inglenook fireplace with a lovely wood burner, exposed white beams and a flat screen TV with Freeview for cosy nights in. There's a space saving dining table for you to eat in; buy salty takeaway fish & chips, or cook up a fresh crab linguine in the adjacent kitchen bought fresh from the fish merchants by the harbour. The cute kitchen has a two ring electric hob, full size oven, microwave and under the counter fridge freezer with everything you need close to hand. Upstairs the comfortable double bedroom is decorated in calming creams and whites, and comes ready made up in crisp white bedding with towels. There’s an adjacent shower room with a heated towel rail to keep your towels warm and fluffy. Nestled in the iconic village of Port Isaac (of Nathan Outlaw and Doc Martin fame) The Bakehouse is ideally situated to explore and sample the fabulous restaurants, art galleries and shops. Head over to Port Gaverne for some coasteering, kayaking in smugglers caves or wild swimming in this clear sheltered cove. Venture slightly further afield in the car to discover more of North Cornwalls beautiful beaches including; Polzeath for excellent surfing and body boarding, nearby Daymer Bay for gentle bathing waters, wind and kite surfing and of course St Enodoc's stunning links golf course. A little further on lies Rock on the Camel Estuary, the hub for to sailing, waterskiing, stand up paddleboarding and wakeboarding, as well as the foot ferry across to explore Padstow harbour. With so much on your doorstep you have the choice to get as active as you like or simply enjoy the peace and quiet, relax and take it easy together. Ground Floor: Open plan Sitting/Dining/Kitchen First Floor: Bed 1: Double bed Shower Room/WC Pets welcome by arrangement - one small dog only.

About the location

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
