“We loved Cogenhoe.”

The house was very well equipped and comfortable. It was spotlessly clean too. The garden was lovely, much bigger than expected. Our boys loved playing football in it. Lovely surprise to have a little bbq. Only slight irritation was having to sort the bedding separately. Would rather you just pushed up the cost of the rental slightly.

“We have just returned from a stay at Cogenhoe, the house was immaculate when we arrived very spacious plenty of room for everyone especially on wet days .”

The kitchen was one of the most well stocked in any rental we have stayed in, it made cooking for a family very pleasurable. The garden is also lovely and there is plenty of room to sit and enjoy the sun. We would definitely look to book again.

“Cogenhoe was ideal accommodation for us, and with two young children was the perfect hub for the most interesting days out.”

Just the beach down at Rock, getting the ferry to Padstow and back and having the kids tire themselves out enjoying the beach before back to a cosy Cogenhoe with the through lounge, so handy conservatory and roomy accommodation made for a great day. With plenty of fun days out no more than a short drive away, it was just a quality family time! Having had a supermarket delivery an hour after arrival, all the local shops and outlets were more than enough for top ups - all in all a magic pace to stay.

“This was our umpteenth Autumn holiday at Cogenhoe and the property continues to provide a level of comfort which makes it feel a real 'home from home'.”

After the minor issue we had last year, it was re-assuring to step into the property which obviously had been thoroughly cleaned for us. Well done to Ruth! Apart from the weather during the latter part of our week, our family break was as good as usual.

“Lovely bungalow, home from home comfort.”

The conservatory was a great place for the kids to play whilst the adults relaxed in the lounge. Location is perfect, short walk away from Rock Bakery in the mornings to pick up pasties and croissants and the Pytime pub is only 3 doors away if you don't fancy cooking. Fantastic beaches all within a short drive and loads of family days out if the weather is a but wet all within a short travelling time away. We have been holidaying in Rock now for over 50 years as a family and Cogenhoe is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. The only think I couldnt find was a broom and a dustpan and brush to sweep up sand after a day at the beach, the hoover was there but sometimes it wouls have been quicker to sweep up. I will definately book Cogenhoe again.

“We had a lovely week, the property was much better than expected, very spacious, clean and well equipped.”

Lovely big garden too. Close to the local pub. Not far from shop, bakery and chip shop. Rock beach is beautiful although it is a long walk from the property, there is a car park if you prefer to drive. Ferry in Rock will take you across to Padstow. The property is a great location to explore more of Cornwall.

“House was exactly as advertised.”

Good size, with plenty of room for everyone, and spotlessly clean. All the rooms were of a decent size and the garden also had space for the younger ones to play. All the facilities were above what was expected and there was more included than advertised. Would rent house again without hesitation if we all decided to return to Cornwall. Thanks for everything

“The property was immaculately clean, one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in.”

It was also very well equipped for a holiday home. The main rooms were light, bright and airy and it was perfect for our needs, lovely to come back to & relax in after a busy day. We would definitely stay here again. Our only comment was that the curtains in the bedrooms look quite old & strangely not in keeping with the rest of the house’s decor & are very light - heavier curtains or black out blinds would help light sleepers! Other than that, it was fantastic!

“Just to mention that the mattresses on the bunk bed need replacing, as the children complained that the springs were causing them discomfort.”

Many thanks for your feedback . As Owner’s we do our very best to ensure that “Cogenhoe” meets and indeed exceeds guests expectation and welcome feedback to help us achieve this aim. Bunk Bed Mattresses: We were aware that these were past their best and had planned to replace them before the 2021 season. However, due to Covid restrictions we were unable to pay our usual winter visit to prepare for the new season and the mattress renewal was not possible. Hopefully, Covid restrictions allowing, we will be able to provide new mattresses before next season. BBQ: We purchased a new BBQ for the property for the 2020 season but were advised that, as not all guests cleaned the BBQ after their use, there was concern that Covid secure cleaning between guests could not be guaranteed . For this reason we were advised not to put the BBQ out. Hopefully, things will be easier next season and we can again provide a BBQ at the property. Property Owner

The property

Cogenhoe is a recently refurbished detached holiday bungalow in Pityme, Rock, offering comfortable self-catering accommodation for 8 guests in up to 5 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. Well situated within very easy walking distance of the Pityme pub/restaurant and only a few minutes drive of the glorious beaches, golf courses and local amenities in North Cornwall. This self-catering holiday cottage offers child friendly enclosed gardens to front and rear, parking and for those warm summer evenings, a sunny decked terrace for outdoor entertaining.The property lends itself well to warm days where you can open the French doors from the kitchen and conservatory onto the lovely decked area. Family meals can be taken outside making the most of local produce from the nearby fishmonger, butcher or baker. The accommodation comprises of a master bedroom with a king size bed and en-suite shower room, two further king size bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a bunk bedroom. There are two further bathrooms, a family bathroom with shower over the bath, and a separate shower room. With plenty of outside space, a sunny conservatory and lovely open plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen, there will always be somewhere to relax and enjoy some well-deserved peace and quiet.Pityme is located between two very scenic golf courses; the famous St Enodoc and The Point at Polzeath where they also have a gym, spa and swimming pool. The nearby beaches of Polzeath and Daymer are a 5-minute drive away. The choice of restaurants in the area is fantastic with many celebrity chefs to choose from including Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw. A holiday highlight for all the family should include taking the foot passenger ferry from the beach at Rock to the picturesque fishing port of Padstow. Watching the everyday ebb and flow of harbour life is a rewarding way to spend a precious day of your holiday. Accommodation: Sitting Room Conservatory Kitchen/Dining Room Bathroom/Shower/W.C. Padstow 1.5 miles via ferry; Polzeath 2.8 miles; Wadebridge 6.2 miles.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.
