“A very nice house in a wonderful setting , with a layout that perfectly met the needs of a three- generation family holiday , combining modern open -plan living with plenty of separate rooms for snatching moments of peace and quiet.”

The presence of owner’s personal items and mementos added warmth and character. We enjoyed the access to secluded beaches and coastal paths , but what will remain with us above all are those stunning uninterrupted views of the sea and headlands . A special place . Kevin and Alison Tebbit

“Our 3 rd time @ Ossco & appreciated decking being replaced after repairs last year that we requested.”

Aga not working, oil had to be refilled but never re connected. Not a problem for us, but needed to be reported. A cordless Dyson would be a great help as brooms next to useless on kitchen floor…. We had a wonderful family time @ Ossco & would appreciate another booking for 2025 from 29/8 to 05/9 as my family consider it as a home from home… not that any of us have that view!! Please confirm that we will be contacted when 2025 bookings open. 2 glasses & 1 mug broken, please advise re payment for these broken items .Thank you, Susan Walters & family

“This was a stunning property, not just the house and its facilities, but also the location - just perfect.”

This has been the best property we’ve stayed in and we’ve been coming down to Cornwall twice a year for 20+ years. The owner was also very prompt in getting back to us regarding a minor query, and was very helpful. We would certainly stay again - the only downside is that the property seems to be fully booked for the next few years! Thank you for a great stay.

“Ossco is a wonderful property and the view is simply amazing.”

We were a family of four generations plus two dogs and it was perfect for us - a unique blend of a lovely home in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea, but not too perfect that we couldn't relax as we had younger and older children as well as grandparents with us. It has a gate on the front and a huge field at the back so absolutely perfect for children and dogs. The annexe was an added bonus too. There are walks adjacent to the property and the kids loved exploring at the bottom of the garden. Polzeath is just a 5 mins car journey away and although not huge it has what you need ie a few restaurants/pubs, coffee shop, clothes shops and a local spar. The beach is amazing too and the kids had so much fun running around in and out of the water. Tesco delivered our food twice during the week which was really helpful as their was 12 of us! A couple of points for the owner not to be published - There has been some new decking put down which is lovely but the old decking has been left on the car park with some nails and screws sticking up - Also some glass has been taken out of the railing next to the decking and has been left placed against the hedge - this could have been a bit dangerous as we had young children and dogs with us running around, so ideally needs removing or put in the garage. The large sliding door in the kitchen - we also struggled to lock sometimes. Lastly there is also a blue sofa in the lounge with throws on that is really uncomfortable so again ideally needs replacing. Otherwise than that we had the most perfect week and we have already enquired about rebooking in 2026 ;-) Thank you again for sharing your lovely house with us.

“As always, Ossco was warm and welcoming, We loved the new kitchen!”

The dishwasher was replaced as soon as I mentioned it (pity the previous occupants hadn't mentioned it, though. It was full off smelly water when we arrived) Just one administrative matter - some roofers turned up while we were there to replace some tiles on the roof. We would have felt more comfortable about it if John Bray had let us know that they were coming, At least we would have know they were genuine. Unlike everyone else who came, they were not wearing identification.

“We have been visiting Polzeath for over 40 years and stayed in an array of JB properties.”

Ossco is an absolute gem, we've had the most amazing time; swimming in Lusty, walks to Port Isaac and Pentire and endless games of rounders in the most fabulous garden. Ossco feels very much like a home rather than a holiday let which we loved. We took our 1 year old Newfoundland who had the most amazing time chasing seagulls, swimming in Daymer and enjoying an occasional ice cream in Padstow...can't wait to return ❤️

“For us everything was perfect.”

We loved all the wood and stone used throughout the house and found it very cozy. Our only issue would be with the beds. I think everyone found the mattresses to be a little lumpy.

“We had an amazing time.”

The property and location is stunning. The property is warm and seating very comfortable. The water was hot and facilities were satisfactory. There was plenty to entertain the children. The walks were wonderful and the outside area although not secure for dogs was a great space. However there is an odd smell in downstairs bathroom. Some of the light switches pop off. Instructions for use of Aga and log burner would have been helpful as the WiFi is a bit dodgy and only works in living area. Single beds were uncomfortable for adults as mattresses were a little worn out. That said we would book this again in a heartbeat.

“Ossco is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location.”

Well thought out as for what you would require on holiday. Maybe could be updated slightly as decking area is moving slightly with joists starting to fail , but did not detract from our great holiday. A welcome book maybe a positive for guests with information for internet and things to do in the area but the welcome bag of tea and coffee etc was much appreciated. Will definitely be returning if possible. Thankyou.

“Property has the best view and is so calming the area is fantastic.”

The property needs some furnishing updating beds uncomfortable and hard, single mattress on bunk beds need attention. We got locked out of the utility door as the lock had failed but John bray attended and let us in within 40 minutes had an issue with ants crawling over the table and worktops, but on the 5th day of the holiday a team arrived to dig a trench and lay new pipes in the garden as they had an issue with a smell so where fitting a vent which we where not told about so couldn’t use outside the whole day. The smell down stairs at night time was really over powering more so I’m the bathroom and utility room of drains we had to run the water several times to try and move the smell. We moved the bin in the utility on night 5 and found a mouse box with poison in which we where shocked at the thought they had an issue with mice and we where sleeping down there on that floor they also had one outside the bedroom door we where sleeping at which is on the same floor so the last 3 nights my partner didn’t sleep well at this thought. It’s a shame as this could be an amazing holiday but for us it was spoilt and we wouldn’t be coming back again unless the issues where sorted the layout and views are perfect.

“This is the second time we have stayed at Ossco.”

It's a very comfortable house, well laid out and always warm. The kitchen is very well equipped and it's always a treat to have an Aga. The large garden with views to the sea beyond gives it an expansive feel, and makes it ideal for children and dogs. Our only comment is that 8 years on from our last visit, the house has not been updated. The decor feels rather dated now, particularly the sitting room and bedroom furniture, and although this does not affect its comfort, it does put it out of step with other properties in which we have stayed recently. All that said, we had a lovely week and it's the perfect base from which to make the most of the area.

“The house is lovely overall and a great location with a beautiful view.”

The decor is nice and the main rooms are really nice for a family holiday. We would definitely stay again but would appreciate a few small issues being addressed before next year.......... The Aga makes the kitchen too hot and needs to be switched off in summer, we had to keep the doors open whenever we were there. All that heat is not ideal for leaving a dog at home for some of the day either. Most of the bedrooms need better curtains and blinds to darken the rooms, ideally all in blackout material The keys needs sorting and labelling, it took a while to find what we needed in the box of keys and junk. The bathrooms need a good check over to fix the almost non-functioning toilet flushes etc. (I called and for it to be fixed but no one ever came and did it). It would help to have an instruction card on arrival e.g. bin collection (that guests don't need to put any bins out). For the price we expected a small welcome basket - some tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and a pint of milk in the fridge to keep us going until the shopping delivery arrived!

The property

Ossco is an attractive contemporary self catering coastal property with outstanding sea views. From its striking interior design to its commanding clifftop setting, it is the perfect family holiday home in North Cornwall that welcomes your dogs as well. Effortlessly stylish, the house sleeps 10-12 guests in 5 comfortable bedrooms, making it ideal for large groups and family celebrations. The spacious open plan living areas have plate glass windows, allowing you to invite the incredible ocean views indoors. Architecturally crafted, this is high standard accommodation complete with broadband, underfloor heating, log-burner, state-of-the-art kitchen with both an oil fired Aga and separate electric oven/hob, and multiple dishwashers. Outside there is a Coach House annexe. Ossco is gated from the road with parking for several cars. To the front and side of the house are large stone terraces with teak patio furniture leading on to huge lawns affording truly breathtaking views of the rugged Atlantic Ocean. The surrounding National Trust coastline is accessible via the nearby public footpath leading down to Lundy Bay, a sheltered cove with sandy beaches at low tide. Polzeath beach is only a short two minutes drive away and a favourite spot for surfers of all ability, with beach side cafes and restaurants as well as shops and galleries. Sailing, waterskiing and inflatable rides take place on the sheltered Camel Estuary with dinghy hire or tuition found at Rock. POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
