    We have over a hundred self-catering holiday cottages and coastal houses in Rock, on the Camel Estuary in North Cornwall. With its sunny South facing golden beach located directly opposite Padstow, Rock is renowned as one of the major water-sport centres in Cornwall. Take your pick from sailing, surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, wake boarding, water skiing, canoeing, diving, rowing, fishing, in fact the list is endless! Whilst on land there are miles of coastal paths to explore ideal for hiking and dog walking, as well as excellent golf, tennis, fishing, cycling, spa & gym among others. An established food haven with high quality restaurants and cafes, you will be spoilt for choice as you can also nip across to indulge in Padstow's eateries just across the water. Along with a smattering of interesting retail shops, Rock village has a fishmonger, deli, bakery, butcher, newsagent and several grocery stores. Rock is certainly a place to be active but also the ideal place to spoil yourself as well.

    Explore Rock Holiday Cottages

    With its south facing aspect on the protected Camel Estuary directly opposite Padstow, Rock enjoys an enviable location that is much sought after as a holiday destination. The village of Rock could hardly be less appropriately named, famous for the long stretches of fine sandy beaches and clear blue water.

    Once the holiday home of Edward VIII, Rock is renowned as one of the major water-sport centres in Cornwall - sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, canoeing and rowing are all activities, which can be carried out in the relatively calm waters of the estuary. At high tide you can hire a paddleboard for some great exercise on the flat water.

    For the less active, Rock is just a great place to find a seat, enjoy a drink and watch the world go by, or take the short ferry ride across to the delightful fishing port of Padstow. Dog-friendly year round, at low-tide a mile of golden sand leads round to the popular bathing beach of Daymer Bay. While a network of coastal paths allows visitors to further explore the stunning coastline by foot.

    Excellent food can be found in the many restaurants of Rock village from Fred Beedles at the Dining room, Nathan Outlaw with Sharps at The Mariners, to James Nathan at St Enodoc Hotel. There are numerous cafes and pubs with stunning water views such as No. 1 Rock Road, The Rock Inn and the Blue Tomato Cafe. Fresh local produce is available from the Rock bakery, butchers, fishmongers, delicatessen and general store.

    The Sailing Club, founded in 1938, is situated on the Quay at Rock. Amenities include a bar, an excellent galley and showers. Organised racing takes place every day from mid July to early September, and on most Sundays from May to October. The Camel School of Sailing provides tuition for beginners or those wishing to brush up on their sailing, in a selection of dinghies.

    The Estuary also provides ideal conditions for all levels of kite and windsurfing experience, whilst the Camel Ski School provide instruction for water skiing for novices, in a clearly defined area, with expert facilities located at the pontoon. Also provided is a tender service to the moorings.

    The world class St. Enodoc Golf Club course situated on the banks of the Camel estuary is reputed to be one of the best in the West of England. Two 18-hole courses provide magnificent views across the estuary with a resident professional available if required. There are several other golf courses in the area including; The Point at Polzeath, at Camelford (Bowood Park), and at St. Kew (9 holes - Pay & Play).

    Porthilly Cove is just around the corner from the Sailing Club at Rock and is home to the historic church of St. Michael's. The village is also home to Jethro Jackson’s gallery and the Marshall family’s oyster farm, which supplies their award winning Porthilly oysters all over the world.

    On the outskirts of Rock village is Pityme - a hamlet with a cluster of houses that includes the Pityme Inn. Next is Tredrizzick - a tiny secluded village leading to St. Minver - a pretty village nestling around the St. Menefreda Church and home of the Fourways Inn. Just beyond St. Minver and Tregwarmond Mill is Chapel Amble, home to the Walmsley Sanctuary, providing over 40 acres of bird sanctuary, and is the migratory home to at least 90 species of birds.
