“We have just come back from staying at west cottage.”

. loved the inside of the cottage the style and decor was lovely. we felt so comfortable in the cottage, I slept better then I do at home, so even tried to see the make of the mattress.. so comfortable. Glad I read the reviews.. we took our own pillows. Glad we did as the pillows were new and very full so I bit to high for us but great for sit up in bed in the mornings. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. It’s funny how some places do welcome packs (milk/tea/coffee) but nothing ...

. loved the inside of the cottage the style and decor was lovely. we felt so comfortable in the cottage, I slept better then I do at home, so even tried to see the make of the mattress.. so comfortable. Glad I read the reviews.. we took our own pillows. Glad we did as the pillows were new and very full so I bit to high for us but great for sit up in bed in the mornings. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. It’s funny how some places do welcome packs (milk/tea/coffee) but nothing at west cottage so again I’m glad we took our own like another reviewer said. The washing machine leaked abit on a cycle so we reported it, hopefully it was fixed on change over day. There was 4 of us 2 adults and two teenagers and we all had enough space.. bathroom was snug, but lovely shower and enough hot water, it really needed some more hooks to hang towels on there is only two. We had to use our bedroom doors to dry them. We also thought it needed an air dryer for inside the cottage. There is a washing line with six pegs! The outside of the cottage we thought really needed some love and didn’t reflect the inside of cottage the same. The grass was very overgrown and we did tell the office and it was then mowed the next day ( thank you) We also took our own bbq and another reviewer had mentioned it not being great. Glad we did. But there is no table outside so putting drinks and food down on the floor was annoying. So we ended up eating inside and only bbq once. But I think the thing that really let it down was the big beautiful apple tree to the entrance of the garden… rotten apple everywhere which the wasps loved, very overgrown and you have to dodge the branches to walk past, lots of weeds and brambles. When we arrived there was a big pile of sick in the garden.. we think from an animal.. not great! If we had had young children they wouldn’t have been able to use the garden… because of the grass, wasps, sick and brambles! I’m sure this isn’t usually the case. The village was perfect, the fish and chips were delicious, very busy and closes at 8pm. lovely local convincing store closes at 6pm. The bakery, butchers, fishmonger and gift shop were so useful to have on the door step too.

The property

In the seaside village of Rock, close to the beach, lies this charming abode, West Cottage.

This is a fantastic option for a family looking for some time away from everyday life and it is tastefully presented with original cottage features and contemporary Scandinavian design touches throughout.

With a gated, off-road driveway, you can draw in and unpack at leisure before heading out to stretch your legs at local Rock or Porthilly Beach.

Once you've had your seaside fix, children and your four legged friend will love to let off any remaining steam in the enclosed garden at West Cottage while you relax on the outdoor sofa.

Head into the kitchen to fix up dinner (or cheat and potter to Rock n Roll fish and chips shop, just around the corner).

Catch up around the stylish dining table with the family before sprawling out together in the lounge on the L-shaped sofa, where you may recline and watch catch-up on the Smart TV.

Later, refresh in the bathroom and head upstairs to the master bedroom which has a double bed with a Smart TV, and there are two other single bedrooms on either side of the landing upstairs so everyone can have their personal space and plenty of room to rest.

Each room has been carefully thought through and considered, with artwork to impress and little touches in every room to ensure it feels like home. For day time adventures, pack up your beach essentials and head to Rock Beach to gaze across the Camel Estuary while children can play in the shores or for the surfers, take the short drive to the waves of Polzeath Beach.

On your return you can eat at one of Rock village's excellent pubs such as The Mariners or Pityme Pub or restaurants such as The Dining Room.

For dining in, stock up at the local shops which are conveniently close to West Cottage; whether it's Rock Nursery Stores for groceries, Watt's Butchers for meat or Barnecutt's Bakery for tempting Cornish pasties, there is plenty to keep foodies happy.

Follow the spectacular South West Coast Path around from Rock to Daymer Bay or for a day out, take the foot ferry from Rock to the coastal towns of Padstow, where you can visit the vibrant harbour and see the National Lobster Hatchery.

Further north offers the village of Port Isaac, which was notably used for filming Doc Martin.

Book West Cottage today and start planning your Cornish holiday adventure.
