We have close to a hundred holiday cottages located in the buzzy seaside village of Polzeath, on the North Cornwall coast. Acclaimed as one of the best surf beaches in Britain, Polzeath's wide and shallow sandy beach is popular with swimmers, body boarders, paddleboarders and surfers of all abilities and is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards. A blue-flag beach bordered by rock-pools, Polzeath is a favourite for families who love sunbathing, reading, building sand castles and playing games of beach cricket or hockey on its protected sands. The village itself sits at the top of the beach, with a number of small shops and plenty of wonderful cafes and restaurants.

Explore Polzeath Holiday Cottages

Polzeath is a stunning beach and a superb location for those who love the Cornish coast. There is truly something for everyone, whether young or young-at-heart with surfing and swimming to sandcastle-building, rock-pooling and exploring the cliff paths of the Rumps and Pentire Point.

Polzeath beach itself is a magnificent stretch of golden sand and a haven for surfers, body-boarders, paddle-boarders and beach lovers alike. Acclaimed as one of the best surfing beaches in the country, the Blue Flag beach is very popular with bathers and bordered by rock-pools that entertain small children for hours. Although generally a safe beach, Polzeath can get large surf and rips, so care should be taken at all times, which is why there are lifeguards on the beach during the daytime in the summer season.

Wetsuits and boards can be hired on the beach by the hour, and individual and group surf lessons can be booked to suit all abilities.

Polzeath itself is a small village with a relaxed beach town feel, along with a good number of shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants to choose from. Another great feature is the parking on the beach! For dog owners it is worth noting that there is a seasonal dog ban on Polzeath beach from Easter day to 1st October.

We heartily recommend staying on the beach until sundown, as visitors are usually treated to the most breathtaking sunsets. Pack a BBQ or picnic, or head to one of the many great eateries to enjoy the view with a cold beer in hand.

Or head for Polzeath's relaxed beachside eateries to grab a pizza, gastro burger or some fresh sea food. Take your pick from Surfside (they also have a cool Rum Bar set up in the quarry behind), TJ's Surf Cafe, The Sandbar, The Waterfront or the Cracking Crab. A short walk up the valley lies The Point at Polzeath with its golf course, restaurant and Bear Bar, offering superb elevated views of the Atlantic ocean and plenty of room for kids to roam free.

From Polzeath, the coastal path skirts New Polzeath high on the cliffs overlooking Hayle Bay, offering wonderful properties with easy access to the beach and many with splendid views of the coastline. Here you will find Baby Bay. Tucked around the corner from Polzeath, this lovely cove offers quiet seclusion away from the hubbub of the main beach.

The path continues up through the area of outstanding beauty that is the National Trust land at Pentire to Pentire Point. In the springtime it is an extensive carpet of wild flowers, with its network of footpaths giving stunning views of the Atlantic. There is a wide variety of bird life all along the coast towards 'The Rumps', where gannets and cormorants can be seen fishing, and occasionally grey seals and dolphins have been sighted.
