“We have stayed at Westray House before and it certainly didn’t disappoint on this occasion.”

The house is beautiful. it is extremely well equipped, located and maintained. We relaxed immediately upon arrival. We were lucky with the weather but equally the house would be cosy if the sun doesn’t shine. We requested the hot tub and that was a great addition. Would definitely return.

The property

Believed to have been built in the early 1900s, Westray House is one of the original houses in Polzeath, North Cornwall. Set in a commanding position a short walk from the centre of the village. On the seaward side of the house the sun deck has exceptional sea views over the sandy beach, Stepper Point, Gulland Island and the Atlantic Ocean and the added benefit of a hot tub (available at an additional charge). Steps lead to the landscaped, terraced garden. The house is accessed via an unmade private road and parking is provided for 2 vehicles at the bottom of the garden. Sleeping 8 people in 4 bedrooms with 4 bath/shower rooms and 4 WCs, this is a superb, supremely comfortable self catering holiday haven. The house retains many of its original features including slate flag stone flooring in the kitchen, high ceilings and large windows, giving the house a light, modern feel but with the traditional charm of the original building. A stunning modern wood burner set into the sitting room wall provides a focal point for evenings in with family, friends or a good book. The first floor has 3 bedrooms; one boasts a comfortable super-king bed with ensuite shower room; 2 further bedrooms (one super-king and one twin) share a smart family bathroom. Up on the second floor, a twin bedded room with a vaulted ceiling enjoys an ensuite shower room. The embodiment of a Cornish seaside holiday, Polzeath ticks the boxes for all members of the family. With a grocery store nearby and a choice of cafes and restaurants, you can leave the car idle for the rest of the week. So close to the beach, the golden sands are perfect for sunbathers, while the surfers in the family can be the first to hit the waves; return for a slap-up breakfast before heading back into the water. Hikers and the family dogs can stomp along the coastal path to discover grand cliffs and the quieter bays of Lundy Bay and Epphaven, even reaching Port Quin, this serene cove is an excellent spot to swim at high tide. Ground Floor: Kitchen Utility Room Sitting/Dining Room Shower Room/WC Wet Suit Room First Floor: Bedroom 1: Superking 6ft bed with ensuite shower room with basin and WC. Bedroom 2: Superking 6ft bed Family Bathroom: Bath with overhead fixed shower, basin and WC. Bedroom 3: Twin beds Second Floor: Bedroom 4: Twin beds with ensuite shower room with basin and WC. About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
