  • “We have stayed at a few John Bray rentals in Castle Rock and this was the worst experience we have had.”

The property had an end of season feeling; a window lock broken, bulb out, carpets filthy and stained with wine. The housekeeping was poor with a blocked shower drain and a significant number of kitchen utensils dirty and requiring washing. The properties are also now showing their age. The master bedroom bed was soft as were the dining area chairs. Most of the symbols on the cooker have worn off so using was trial and error. The master bedroom bed was soft as were the dining area chairs. Most of the symbols on the cooker have worn off so using was trial and error. Worst of all was the positioning of the bed in the master bedroom. It was side on against a wall which is completely unacceptable. On the positive side we enjoy staying in the development. The views and village location are great and the parking a real bonus. This was our first disappointing stay in a John Bray property.

The property

Rock Lobster is a spacious, modern three storey terraced holiday property enjoying amazing sea and coastal views, from many rooms, over Port Isaac bay in North Cornwall. With flexible accommodation to suit an enlarged family of children and their friends or even the grandparents, this property can sleep 9 in 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms and also benefits from a rear patio and an allocated parking space for one vehicle. The ground floor has a king size bedroom with sea views and an en-suite bathroom, plus a bunk bed room with an additional single bed. The serene first floor space has an open plan living room/kitchen with a comfy corner sofa just right for curling up with a good book. The large glass doors with a Juliet balcony can be flung wide open to appreciate the fresh sea breezes and spectacular panoramic views. On the second floor is another ample king sized bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a further bunk bed room; both benefiting from sea views. Also on this floor is a bright, contemporary bathroom.Port Isaac harbour is a pretty and vibrant fishing village with lots of shops, galleries, tea rooms and restaurants on offer. Better known as the fictional village of Port Wenn in Doc Martin, it has also been featured in Poldark and Saving Grace. A wonderful, peaceful place to sit and watch the world go by, relax with a cream tea or a handmade pasty before you head off to explore the stunning coastal paths and you won't be disappointed. Take a stroll down to swim at the pretty nearby cove at Port Gaverne, or for the more daring, swim out and climb the rocks before launching yourself back into the brisk, clear waters at high tide. Try rock pooling, beach combing and stone skimming from this shingled cove before popping over to the bar at the Port Gaverne Inn for refreshments. A 20-minute drive away could take you to the pounding surf at Polzeath or the sheltered sandy bay at Daymer. The busy town of Wadebridge with its supermarkets, shops, cinema and leisure centre is only 8 miles away.Ground Floor Bedroom 3: King size bed (5ft) , sea views, en-suite shower room/WC. About the location

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6 miles; Padstow 9 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
