The Lookout

The reconfiguration of the ground floor is amazing, especially with the walk in shower just by the door which is perfect for washing children in.

Needs photos on the website! We had a glorious week on the beach and especially enjoyed watching life go by from the look out window. Cleaning could have been improved however, as the fridge and freezer needed a good clean by us and cupboard door handles in the kitchen v mucky. it would also be nice to have replacement saucepans as they all had damaged bottoms.

Apart from the issue with the leak from above into the master bedroom, we loved the property.

It is in a great location and we got lucky with the free parking.

Lucky find and was spacious and well equipped accommodation.

Great position in new Polzeath. Actually very easy to park, in front of the accommodation.Plus it was free!, although was the first week of September. The Altantic restaurant is very near and does fabulous pizza’s The only issue we had was that there wasn’t a tumble dryer or facilities to dry towels etc outside. it is a dog friendly accommodation, a stairgate at the bottom of the stairs, would have been helpful to stop him bounding upstairs and given him time to dry off from the beach. Overall a great place to stay for beach lovers and plenty of local walks

This property had a fabulous location, is clean, comfortable and well stocked.

We had a great stay here and would book again. The top floor lounge was a particular favourite room with all the family. Slight issues we had were the hot water control instructions were a bit out of date and we struggled understanding hot to get instant hot water on the first day. We have a combi boiler at home and so a water tank system isn't familiar. There is also no where prepared or obvious to hang wetsuits or stash surf boards. A good rail above the bath would be great to be able to hang wetsuits after rinsing. The showers are great, but with fixed heads, so it isn't easy to rinse them around or clean the bath.

The Lookout is a great property and we enjoyed our stay.

The extra details were appreciated like the room diffusers and Easter decorations. It is well decorated and really homely! The kitchen window and the lounge windows make this property! When we arrived there was no hot water and a workman from John Bray came and rewired the tank to use the other element, this solved the problem fortunately. There are a few things that could do with addressing at the property for example the windows in the end bedroom and bathroom do not open and the selection of pans was poor with some of them unusable. The downstairs bathroom towel rail was not properly attached to the wall and the blinds in the bedrooms were very hard to use with the cassette of one falling on my daughter as she opened the blind one morning. We put it back together but it is less than ideal. For us the lack of outdoor space to hang wetsuits and the lack of a tumble drier were a real Problem, even just for giving shower towels a Quick dry part way through the week. I am sure that with some re arrangement of the downstairs space this would be a possibility. A hosepipe outside would be a great addition to rinse off sandy feet . A lovely property that with a couple of tweaks would be perfect!

We had a lovely time again here, the location is perfect and the sea view is lovely.

It was great that previous feedback about having a second key for the property had been addressed. We have already booked for next year. However I see that dogs are now allowed to stay at the property and this was really evident in the amount of dog hairs over the rug in the sitting room; the vacuum cleaner was also very full of dog hair. I feel an extra charge should be added and extra cleaning done after a dog stays at the property.

Hi, good time had by all.

..This was our 2nd time here, enjoy the location and house all good. My only thoughts to improve the lookout is to maybe rejig the bathrooms , position of loo and basin in downstairs. Upstairs a slimmer basin. Shower /bath room downstairs would also benefit from combi tap/shower attachment, as plastic one split as soon as put it on. The parking, I learned on last day, that there is space that can be used but this isn't mentioned in description of property? Many thanks , would stop again

The house is not clean, down stairs bathroom disgusting, sent photos, still waiting for a response from John Bray!

I was told by the cleaners the owner would not pay for a deep clean which it needs badly.

Fantastic property in New Polzeath with incredible, stunning views.

A pick of the bunch for our family of four + dog out of many we have stayed in over the years - would certainly return. We even tried to extend this stay by one night, but got told by Sykes not possible. (It was a shame that the dishwasher was faulty for majority of stay, even though replaced with a new one on our last day.)

Delightful cosy cottage and excellent location with everything one could think of.

Space, comfort of beds, hot showers and delightful sea views from the dining area and lots of bright light on all levels of the cottage. Would happily return.

Ourselves and the children had a really lovely stay.

The location was nice and we we loved the view from the window. We have rebooked already for next year.

Perfect spot by the sea, look forward to booking it again

We had a two week stay at the lookout amazing location, furnished very tasteful, unfortunately some areas need attention cleaning on arrival was not wonderful had to do a bit of cleaning myself on arrival We had a amazing stay and very much loved it we found the house keeper very helpful with new laundry mid stay all amenities made our stay easy and we would definitely consider returning

Very well appointed and appreciated the recarpeting and redecoration since the previous owner.

Location is ace. Please could the owners do something about the ventilation in the bathroom? The windows do not open and the extractor fan didn’t seem to make much difference leading to a damp smelling bathroom for most of the week. A second key would be helpful so that the house can be locked if some of the occupants are asleep but someone else wants to go out? You can’t lock the door as it’s not possible to unlock from inside without a key so it’s not safe to lock it (but also doesn’t feel that safe leaving the door unlocked whilst people are asleep!)

Will definitely visit again.

Good property, good location. Parking was less of issue than first thought. Shops and restaurants all within walking distance, two beaches to choose from and nice walk to pentire point if your able.

Wif-Fi and vacuum cleaner didn't work.

Most of the windows wouldn't open and the fridge had to be set very low to avoid ice build up and food freezing. Great location and lovely view from kitchen and living room. No dedicated parking so best to avoid during peak season.

Property was very comfortable and very well furnished and in the ideal location for beach and walks.

The only small niggle being that we weren’t able to open windows most being sealed shut. Overall we had a fabulous stay and would definitely rent again.
