    “Excellent accommodation marred by a lack of information.”

    No instructions on how to get hot water, which we discovered by chance. No instructions on how to turn on the heated towel rail, again discovered by trial and error. No guide to the television. Guide to a radio but not the one supplied.

The property

A stylish holiday bolt-hole, St Martins is a ground floor apartment, part of Lundy House on the Rock Road and is a quick walk to the village shops and nearby pub. Within a few minutes drive to the North Cornnwall coastline, this holiday cottage is a fantastic base to relax and explore the local area. Unplug from the everyday (and your devices) and reconnect with each other in this gorgeous retreat. With parking for one car, this self catering apartment can actually cater for up to 4 guests if you make use of the sofa bed in the living room, making it perfect for a couple's romantic getaway or for a small family break. Arrive in the open plan kitchen, dining and living room with comfortable furnishings, giving you the opportunity of tucking into a home-cooked meal. Attractively furnished, there is plenty of seating in the living area with the added benefit of a bright conservatory where you can relax with a coffee and plan your action packed day ahead. Open up the patio doors from the conservatory onto the private patio area where you can enjoy a long lazy lunch. The cosy king bedroom is found at the front of the apartment with the shower room alongside. Perfectly located to explore the best of North Cornwall. Sailing and all manor of watersports are catered for just down the road at Rock along the picturesque Camel Estuary. Off the water, there are a range of coastal and rural footpaths around the area, some of the most dramatic walks are found on the clifftops near Pentire Head where you can capture the most amazing deep sea coastal views from here. Most everyday shopping requirements can be met locally with a grocer, butcher, bakery and deli just a few minutes walk. Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
