We have had a comfortable stay in Aunt Dora’s cottage.
Such a quaint cottage. It is very well sited, being in the centre of town, close to the harbour, good pubs, restaurants and cafes. I would highly recommend this property for a holiday in Port Isaac. If attending for the first time, there is no parking facilities in town. The main car park is at the top of the hill.
We had a wonderful time staying in Aunt Dora's cottage, it was cosy, comfortable and so close to the harbour .
We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back , it's the perfect place to adventure and relax. But maybe just a small bottle of hand wash would be appreciated in the bathroom :) Thank you for the welcoming gift , a lovely surprise.
The cottage itself was lovely, although smaller than it looks in the listing photos.
We were aware that we would have to park quite a distance from the property, but not that it would be difficult to drop our luggage off. We had to block the road while we unloaded because the car park was almost a mile away up a VERY steep hill. When we arrived, we wanted to put a couple of bits in the freezer compartment of the fridge, but it was totally frozen solid. We had to chip the ice away to be able to use it. We had to go through the drawers to find any information about the property and when we found it, the instructions for the refuse didn't match what was available. There is a beautiful stable door leading from the street to the living area. The top part of the door locks and holds the bottom part in place. We noticed that the bottom half was stiff where it was passing over the coir doormat, but it was also only attached to the door frame by one hinge rather than two. The other was hanging off of the rotten door frame. We reported this to John Bray who said that it wouldn't be fixed before the end of our stay, so we would have to use the side door. The side door is accessed under the stairs and is very awkward for anyone over about 5' 2! We also noticed throughout the stay that the bath was slow to drain after the shower was used, which we just put up with. However, by our last morning, we had to forgo showers as after the first use, it would not drain at all. We checked outside and could see that the outside drain was blocked. Finally, there was no plug for the kitchen sink, which made washing up difficult. We did have a lovely stay, but these things would have been easily sorted to make it even better.
