“Beautiful cottage which has been tasteful decorated throughout, .”

Everything there you could need for an enjoyable stay . Fab shower room , comfy beds , and lovely modern kitchen , great views from the master bedroom. I would warn anyone with mobility problems that the walk down into the village is extremely steep down Rose hill but does only take 5mins to get there . An added extra it has secure car parking very close by . I would definitely recommend staying at this cottage .

The property

Mermaid Cottage, a beautiful, lovingly restored three-bedroom fisherman's cottage, located in the heart of the popular seaside harbour town of Port Isaac in Cornwall. This stylish property has it all, thoughtfully blending contemporary furnishings with toasty woodburning stoves, it offers an ideal setting for a family holiday or a break with friends. Step inside the charming stable door to find a welcoming snug with one of those stoves, perfect to unwind in front of after a day of walking. The sitting room’s plush, velvet sofa provides a comfy place to relax. Gather for movie nights around the smart TV, as you can log in to your own Netflix account, or simply relax and bring out the board games for family time together. From here, proceed to the stunning, well-equipped kitchen, where you can prepare tasty meals to enjoy at the dining table for six while catching up on the day's events. When sleep calls, three calm and tastefully designed bedrooms invite you to rest; the generously sized master with king size bed has views out over the valley towards the harbour, while the double and bunk bedroom have plush beds that will call you to them to recharge after a day of exploring. In the morning, enjoy breakfast at the picnic bench in the garden, a lovely spot to take in the scenery, looking out over the coastal countryside. Port Isaac's amenities are only a short walk away and have plenty to keep you entertained, such as quaint shops selling local produce and gifts, cafés serving Cornish cream teas, and pubs and restaurants serving delicious local seafood. A simple trot down the lane brings you straight into the main Fore Street and from here you can spot the familiar sights of the Doc Martin TV series. There are some fantastic coastal walks, including one to Port Quin, which is home to Doyden Castle, which was used in Poldark and is now owned by the National Trust. Follow the coast north to Tintagel Castle, which is steeped in myth and legend and is famously associated with King Artur and Merlin. Explore Pencarrow House & Gardens for a charming walk, or for children, Camel Creek Family Theme Park given them a thrilling day out to expend their energy. Be sure to stock up on local produce at either Trevathan Farmshop or just up the road, Sea View Farm Shop. Heading south, children will enjoy rockpooling at Port Quin and paddling at low tide or adults can swim and snorkel at high tide. Further afield, spend a day at Polzeath or take the foot ferry from Rock to Padstow to play mini golf and feast in Rick Stein or Paul Ainsworth's restaurants. Mermaid Cottage is the place to be for a Cornish escape with family and friends.

About the location

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
