The house was beautifully presented, spacious, and perfectly placed for exploring the coast. It was brilliant for our dogs — loads of room, a secure garden, and gorgeous walks right from the doorstep. Everything about the stay felt easy, relaxing, and wonderfully welcoming. This was our second stay here and we will be returning

We had a lovely relaxing week and in all the years of renting holiday accomodation in Rock, Chy-An-Dowr is by far, our favourite place, a fabulous property!

Very comfortable, really well equipped kitchen. Very clean lovely setting and only a 15 min walk to the beach. Highly recommend. Just one very small minus…no salt or oil which was a nuisance on the first evening.

Fantastically fitted out property, in a great location to footpaths, facilities and with the most beautiful country and scenic views from the house.

Terrific gardens and wildlife. My husband, cocker spaniel and I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay in Rock.

Spotlessly clean, with beautiful views and easy access to the shops and beautiful walks. Very well equipped. Definitely would recommend.

Fantastic property which was excellent.

My recommendation is that a little maintenance is needed in the main bathroom as the grouting in the shower is missing in a couple of places and around the shower tray it needs to be sealed. The seals on the shower glass doors need replacing. It would be a shame to see a good house ruined. We noticed that some smells where coming from the ensuite bathroom even though it wasn't used. In my opinion it seems to be coming from the toilet pan connector where it goes into the floor. The master bedroom definitely needs blackout blinds. I hope you find this helpful. Kind regards

Wonderful stay at Chy-An-Dowr.

This cottage is such a perfect get-away and has everything you need for a really comfortable stay. The location is amazing - short walks to the beach and ideal for discovering surrounding areas. Very kid and dog friendly. Thank you so much.

Was excellent as usual but could suggest some of the pillows need replacing especially the ‘crackly’ ones.

Everything great had a problem with hot water but quickly sorted.

Larger tv screen would be good in main sitting.

Chy An Dowr is lovely with great views and a beautiful garden.

It feels like a luxurious home from home and we have been lucky enough to have stayed several times. Only slight feedback is the comfort of the king size bed and the sofas (which I appreciate is subjective). However it would be fantastic if there were some garden loungers and possibly a gate on the side access.

Chy-an-dowr in Rock was a lovely place to stay.

Tucked away in a quiet cul de sac with a beautiful private garden at the back. The house is spotless, well arranged and contains everything you could need for a lovely relaxing holiday.

We have been coming to Rock for many years and this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

Peaceful location, very well equipped. Hopefully we will be back.

Beautiful family room with stunning views of the pretty garden and fields beyond. Very well equipped (the only thing I missed was a lemon squeezer) Comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Plenty of parking. Good shops nearby- we loved Fee’s! Sykes cottages were easy to communicate with and always helpful. Thank you all very much.

Chy an dowr is a wonderful holiday cottage, set in a fantastic position in rock for all amenities!

Dog friendly which is a huge bonus as many of the beaches near are all year round. As a family with young children the bungalow's layout was great, lots of separate bathrooms, open dining and living space which we found extremely practical and it was so warm!! The garden was a delight, lots of love and attention shown to it and the views of the fields was lovely to wake up to in the mornings. A few really minor points which I think may help this brilliant cottage would be; Installing a side gate as there is completely open side access to the right. For a family&dog; friendly cottage we think it would be very handy and safer. The garden is open to the field behind, there is no fence, so any dog/person could come in if walking behind the property - the stream is also open and runs into neighbouring properties which are perfect doorway for four legged friends if they smell a BBQ next door! The listing states booking in at 4 on arrival and leaving at 9/9:30 when finishing your stay. Essentially you lose nearly 2 days in which you paid for. We understand during COVID it was absolutely essential for cleaning but I don't think it is now and it does seem a shame. Overall it was a truly wonderful property and I can't recommend it enough to people who was a clean and well maintained base for their holiday :)

Absolutely perfect not a single complaint just one suggestion.

As I suffer from fibromyalgia it would have been helpful if there was something more comfortable to be able to sit in the garden for those of us who may have similar difficulties. Thankyou for a wonderful stay have managed to book again even though it will be in 2026!

We have been holidaying in Rock for 9 years now, always renting from John Bray.

We have never been disappointed but I must say we were amazed at the beautiful bungalow we stayed at last week. An amazing property and are looking forward to coming back to it next year. It was in super condition and Ruth the cleaner did a super job, thank you,

Lovely peaceful location and well equipped bungalow.

Think the settees/cushions need to be replaced as they were very soft and difficult to get out of. And the screens for the windows were very cumbersome - would be better to have vertical blinds which can be drawn (so you can still enjoy the view) but also give some privacy to the walkers in the field. Having been to Rock many times we were a bit shocked at the amount of building work going on and hope that it is not going to spoil things.

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay last week, the view from the rear of the property was totally peaceful.

We will be looking to return again.

Loved the property, been here before during our summer break, there is one thing we would like and that is some comfy out door furniture that you can relax on after our day out or if we just want a chill out day and stay in.

We will be back.

Chy an Dowr is a lovely holiday home which we've returned to stay at for a week or two for around 6 years.

It's one of few homes of its standard where we're able to bring our cocker spaniel with us. Its really well appointed and furnished and the kitchen has an abundance of cooking and dining utensils and crockery. The only things we could fault are that, its time that the pillows were renewed as they're now rather flat and uncomfortable and in the lounge area it would be nice to have a few more cushions and some blankets for getting cozy with a book on cooler days. Were very graceful to be able to use this home to visit one of our favorite locations and have booked for a fortnight's stay next year. Thank you.

We loved Chy-An-Dowr from the moment we arrived!

The garden and the view beyond was the perfect setting for our holiday, we enjoyed our time at the property and in the garden as much as we enjoyed our time at the beaches. The kitchen was well equipped with high quality kitchen wear, the beds were comfortable and the utility room was perfect for storing our sandy beach paraphernalia with access straight to the garden with outside sink and clothes line. The short walk to the Porthilly cove and on to Rock at low tide was one that we thoroughly enjoyed as did our little dog. We are hopeful to be back to enjoy this beautiful part of the world from this ideal property in the future.

This holiday home is up there with the best we have ever stayed in, thank you for a wonderful stay.

We walked into a very clean, modern & comfortable accommodation everything to a high standard & felt immediately at home. The kitchen had everything you needed to self cater & of high quality which is a bonus as eating out expensive. Thank you to Ruth for such a clean place to walk into, it starts the holiday off well. Great walks for the home, also great countryside views from the garden which was so pretty to sit in & enjoy.

The cleanliness and standard of equipment at the property was outstanding making for a fabulous week.

We had such a fantastic holiday at Chy-An-Dowr we did not want it to end!

We love the house, with its great location, huge windows and stunning views and we look forward to returning soon!

Whilst we understand that extra cleaning has to be in place, not being in until 4.

30 means you loose nearly the whole day . Could you not have a system where from 2pm you text when the house is ready. Also to be out and have the house cleaned by 9am is impossible unless you use the day before to do this. The only way to manage is to have to pay extra for a cleaner. This impacts on two precious days of your holiday. The house is fantastic and the garden is normally beautiful, however, the grass was extremely long and not cut until the afternoon of the day before we left.

Came to spend a weekend at Chy-An-Dowr to recharge, I can not tell you how good the place was, perfect in all respects from, administration, contact, services, quality of the accommodation and as for the sheets from Atlantic Laundry....bliss. An excellent, no outstanding experience, whoever owns Chy an Dowr..thank you for letting me access your home. Myrtle - my Springer says thanks too she loved the garden and the walks, perfect in every sense. This is only the second review I have written, my first referred to an awful experience overseas, this was an excellent one - I cannot compliment the team enough - exactly "what it says on the tin".
