“Chy-an-dowr in Rock was a lovely place to stay.”

“Lovely house that was perfect for our family holiday in Rock.”

Beautiful family room with stunning views of the pretty garden and fields beyond. Very well equipped (the only thing I missed was a lemon squeezer) Comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Plenty of parking. Good shops nearby- we loved Fee’s! Sykes cottages were easy to communicate with and always helpful. Thank you all very much.

“Chy an dowr is a wonderful holiday cottage, set in a fantastic position in rock for all amenities!”

Dog friendly which is a huge bonus as many of the beaches near are all year round. As a family with young children the bungalow's layout was great, lots of separate bathrooms, open dining and living space which we found extremely practical and it was so warm!! The garden was a delight, lots of love and attention shown to it and the views of the fields was lovely to wake up to in the mornings. A few really minor points which I think may help this brilliant cottage would be; Installing a side gate as there is completely open side access to the right. For a family&dog; friendly cottage we think it would be very handy and safer. The garden is open to the field behind, there is no fence, so any dog/person could come in if walking behind the property - the stream is also open and runs into neighbouring properties which are perfect doorway for four legged friends if they smell a BBQ next door! The listing states booking in at 4 on arrival and leaving at 9/9:30 when finishing your stay. Essentially you lose nearly 2 days in which you paid for. We understand during COVID it was absolutely essential for cleaning but I don't think it is now and it does seem a shame. Overall it was a truly wonderful property and I can't recommend it enough to people who was a clean and well maintained base for their holiday :)

“Absolutely perfect not a single complaint just one suggestion.”

As I suffer from fibromyalgia it would have been helpful if there was something more comfortable to be able to sit in the garden for those of us who may have similar difficulties. Thankyou for a wonderful stay have managed to book again even though it will be in 2026!

“Lovely peaceful location and well equipped bungalow.”

Think the settees/cushions need to be replaced as they were very soft and difficult to get out of. And the screens for the windows were very cumbersome - would be better to have vertical blinds which can be drawn (so you can still enjoy the view) but also give some privacy to the walkers in the field. Having been to Rock many times we were a bit shocked at the amount of building work going on and hope that it is not going to spoil things.

“Chy an Dowr is a lovely holiday home which we've returned to stay at for a week or two for around 6 years.”

It's one of few homes of its standard where we're able to bring our cocker spaniel with us. Its really well appointed and furnished and the kitchen has an abundance of cooking and dining utensils and crockery. The only things we could fault are that, its time that the pillows were renewed as they're now rather flat and uncomfortable and in the lounge area it would be nice to have a few more cushions and some blankets for getting cozy with a book on cooler days. Were very graceful to be able to use this home to visit one of our favorite locations and have booked for a fortnight's stay next year. Thank you.

“We loved Chy-An-Dowr from the moment we arrived!”

The garden and the view beyond was the perfect setting for our holiday, we enjoyed our time at the property and in the garden as much as we enjoyed our time at the beaches. The kitchen was well equipped with high quality kitchen wear, the beds were comfortable and the utility room was perfect for storing our sandy beach paraphernalia with access straight to the garden with outside sink and clothes line. The short walk to the Porthilly cove and on to Rock at low tide was one that we thoroughly enjoyed as did our little dog. We are hopeful to be back to enjoy this beautiful part of the world from this ideal property in the future.

“Whilst we understand that extra cleaning has to be in place, not being in until 4.”

30 means you loose nearly the whole day . Could you not have a system where from 2pm you text when the house is ready. Also to be out and have the house cleaned by 9am is impossible unless you use the day before to do this. The only way to manage is to have to pay extra for a cleaner. This impacts on two precious days of your holiday. The house is fantastic and the garden is normally beautiful, however, the grass was extremely long and not cut until the afternoon of the day before we left.

With huge plate glass windows that allow the sunshine to stream in, this is a comfortable contemporary self-catering holiday property, that sleeps 6 guests in 3 beautifully furnished bedrooms. Chy-An-Dowr is the perfect holiday home for families or small groups, and the family dog can come too!This modern detached bungalow was designed with social living and relaxation in mind with a spacious sunny open plan kitchen diner and bright comfortable lounge. A utility room with access out to the garden is handy for dropping off shopping and hanging up wetsuits to dry. Take time to enjoy family meals indoors, then adjourn to the living area with its wonderful garden views, the perfect place to unwind around the modern wood burner after an energetic day on the North Cornwall coast. Throw open the sliding doors that look out over open farmland, to access the tiered garden and the sheltered patio area and lawn. The master bedroom has a luxurious ensuite bathroom with patio doors out to the garden. There are two more bright and contemporary twin bedrooms that share a family bathroom with a separate shower.Chy-An-Dowr is located in Rock, a picturesque village on the North Cornwall coast that has long been popular for seaside holidays. From Trelyn, take a short walk to all the grocery shops you need as well as the local newsagents and hairdresser. From Chy-An-Dowr, follow the footpath down to Rock via Porthilly Beach, where you can step on to the ferry and cross the Camel Estuary to Padstow; Rick Stein's fish and chips are de-riguer. Padstow 1.5 miles via ferry; Polzeath 2.8 miles; Wadebridge 6.2 miles.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.
