When we arrived after a 4 hr drive. The worktops in the kitchen dirtys and all the dining table also dirty. I though ok these are minor things there was cleaning items there i'll wash everything down. We dropped our things off as it was a sunny day. The rain came in we got soaked. Came back to have a shower no hot water. Thought brilliant. There was a john bray booklet in property after ring many numbers we finally got one that worked , well the gentleman said please text me. So we explained we had no water. Was asked to leave property while it was fixed. I contacted them a few hrs later as we had heard nothing. It had been fixed so after been sat in soaking wet clothes for 2 hrs we went back to get a note left from maintenance it would take a further 2 hrs for the water to warm up. This is absolutely not what you expect. 4 hrs in soaking wet clothes to wait for a shower. Then we finally at 9.30pm got into the shower and it flooded with 1 min of being on. We didn't phone maintenance as to be honest we just couldn't be bothered after it took 4 hrs the last time and it was a Saturday night and we were meant to be on holiday. The outside light hardly even worked and wasn't bright enough for the location of the proprty anyone elderly woukd habe struggked if they also had taken a dog. Then the following day tried to wash our dogs with outside shower this also didn't work and looked like it hadn't for a long time. We had stayed in a John bray cottage at Christmas in padstow Town which was absolutely wonderful we had so many lovely touches left for us. This property how ever did not live up to the pictures or standards of that. The halls in the main bedroom had cracks all over them and so did all the hallway walls and walls in living room the whole length where radiator is. John bray contacted us when we arrived home and I explained everything with them. I also contacted Sykes cottages who didn't want to know and offered us no refund. They said we should have contacted house keeping to come and clean the property again for us and also would have sent a plumber out. To be completely honest it took 4 hrs to fix the boiler we were completely fed up and why should we be contacting them when 1 the property should of been clean and 2 should surely check all facilities work before advertising them as so. What made matter worse after I had made my complaints to John bray and skyes I went on the review pay to make a review and they same comment had been made by someone who had stayed in the property one month earlier so they obviously took my £400 for a 3 night stay in early March and didn't bother fixing any of the issues. I would absolutely not book with Sykes cottages again. The accomodation was in a fairly remote place with several cottages around ours which we didn't mind this at all as we visit the area 5/6times a year. And perfect for the things we do but the pictures don't show a true reflection of property. And if you happy ringing multiple times to get thing fixed that's ok but we were not as we tried to enjoy our holiday so stay out as much as possible. For the price we paid in March there were many nicer property's which was a shame .

Park up out front of Chy Pol, taking a brief moment to soak in your new surroundings before heading inside. Upon entering, feel instantly at home as you're greeted by a tastefully-appointed, open-plan living space housing a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining table with ample seating, and an inviting sitting area with sofa, chair, a crackling woodburning stove, and a sleek, wall-mounted Smart TV. On warmer days, make the most of the enclosed courtyard and there is a garden area, pulling up a chair to delight in some alfresco dining with the help of the barbecue. If bringing a canine companion, there is a dog exercise field through arch between neighbours numbers 3 and 4, behind the rest of the block, to give them extra space to run. When the sun has set, head back indoors to refresh with a refreshing cleanse under the shower before you finally hunker down for a well-earned rest in either a plush king-size or bunk bedroom. If you can tear yourself from your lovely new base, jump in the car and explore what's on offer in your local region. Take the short drive to Rock to stock up at the local Nursery Stores for your essentials and why not tuck into lunch or dinner at The Pityme Pub, The Mariners or for a fine dining treat, The Dining Room? You'll find plenty of temptations at Barnecutts Bakery and can purchase your fresh fish from the fishmongers. Keep going down the road which ends in the beach car park and enjoy a stroll on the coastal path or along the beach. For a full day out, make a beeline for Polzeath, a bustling coastal town popular with surfers, where you and your loved ones can spend a day sunbathing on Polzeath Beach, hiring a board and trying out the waves or savouring the local cuisine with a meal at the Cracking Crab or Surfside. From Polzeath, the steep coastal path rises to take you round to take in unrivalled sea views at Pentire Point and hike around to the Rumps, a stunning nature reserve home to rugged cliff sides and scenic hiking paths.
