“There are some great aspects about The Point.”

The position. The brightness of the 2 reception rooms, the view from the first floor and comfortable furniture in the receiption rooms. Also a really well equiped kitchen and fantastic fridge/freezer. Easy to cook in there. A happy place. But, we feel this property is only just hanging on to its 4 star rating. In 2025 your towel rails should either run on electricity or on the hot water circuit. It was mild and very very wet during our week. So, it was impossible to dry any towels without putting on the central heating! We had wet towels for days. This is crazy. Plumbing has moved on from when this was ok. The main bathroom is also in a really poor state for a house of this calibre. The cartridge is broken in the shower, so it dripped constantly for 7 days, 24 hours a day. The water splashes way into the room and under the towel rail (why no shower door?). The shower cubicle is not a wet room. This means the whole room was incredibly damp. The mould that has built up under the towel rail (from the dripping shower) is shocking. Being in the main bathroom was very rather grim. Grey days, constant rain and damp bathroom. The electician has also fitted Low Voltage downlighters designed to have the light bulbs set very very deep inside the fitting. (Mood lighting). Totally inappropriate for a room where you actually want to see things. So no matter how bright the light bulbs actually are, you will never get decent light in that bathroom. These fittings need to be replaced with a better designed fitting or the number increased by double so you can see at night. Its gloomy and depressing. The mould growing around the top of the bath was another big minus point. Just not good enough or clean enough. Please note the shower was reported as broken by another holiday maker and no one has fixed it. Why?A plumber can do this in a couple of hours. Our suggestion would be that money urgently needs to be spent to upgrade the main bathroom, mend the shower, put on a shower door so water is not splashing around the floor when someone showers. Remove all the mould, and sort out the towel rails generally so you can have warm towels with out turning on the central heating.

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

Please note the King size bed in bedroom 1 has a Superking duvet. The twin rooms are made up as single beds, if you require these to be configured differently and made into superkings, please contact us at least a week before your stay.
