Description

Penny Liggan in Rock, is a spacious self-catering property close to Rock beach and the Camel Estuary on the north Cornwall coast. An ideal family holiday home, it has plenty of space for up to 10 guests in five comfortable bedrooms (with optional space for an extra 2 guests if required). A dog-friendly bungalow, it offers laid back charm with a choice of living spaces to unwind in, along with mature gardens, which borrow wonderful views of the St Enodoc Golf Course and Stepper Point beyond. Penny Liggan benefits from having ample parking.

The large open plan kitchen and dining area offers a sociable space for both formal dining or relaxed lunches. The space is flooded with natural light and patio doors open the house onto a completely enclosed, sunken patio area and rockery. Retire to this great little sun trap after dinner to enjoy a perfectly sheltered sundowner. Overlooking the patio, a sitting area set under a glass ceiling is clearly the hub of the home and the perfect spot to sit and read, or to chat while the kids run in and out of the garden. A separate living room with large apex windows perfectly frame the view, is the ideal spot to enjoy a board game or favourite movie as night falls. Take your pick from a superking and a kingsize bedroom, plus two twin bedrooms with shared use of two bathrooms. A fifth bedroom with ensuite shower room offers a double bed set on a mezzanine level (please note: this bedroom has restricted head height) Also in this bedroom there is an optional single bed below which can be requested if needed (which can also be pulled out to form a king-size bed).

Take the footpath from Penny Liggan to the beach or head to the shops in Rock village. With a butcher, baker, fishmonger, deli, grocery store and clothing shops, you can stock up or indulge in some retail therapy without having to travel too far. Take your pooch for a long walk on Rock's golden beach; walk along the banks of the estuary and soak up the incredible views, or head into the dunes towards Daymer Bay and Polzeath beyond. If you fancy a day-trip then you could hop on the foot ferry to Padstow to explore this pretty harbour. If you're feeling energetic then why not try cycling the Camel Trail (a flat cycle trail suitable for all the family), try water-skiing, wakeboarding or even hire a sailing dinghy or stand up paddle board and hit the water! For dining out there are excellent choices on offer with lots of restaurants and cafes on both sides of the water, and if you stay out late, catch the water taxi home against a backdrop of twinkling lights for a truly memorable end to the night.

We had a family party of 10 plus our dog, staying at Penny Liggan to celebrate two big birthdays and it did not let us down.

A previous negative review made me nervous about our choice but John Bray were very reassuring prior to our stay and the house was perfect! It is so big, light and airy, perfect for a big family party. The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed, including a gas barbecue. The local John Bray agent was also so supportive and got immediate help when the heating was permanently on during the heatwave. All in all a fantastic experience! Thank you so much!

The accommodation is broadly as described ,however, the pictures are clearly taken some time ago.

A number of the windows have blown and are foggy, there is a small amount of mould inside the lounge bay window and a damaged windowsill, cobwebs are everywhere, numerous light bulbs not working, a deep clean and some decoration would improve this property. On the positive side, the location and layout are excellent

Lovely spacious accommodation, beds really comfortable, kitchen well stocked with equipment and ideal for cooking a lovely meal.

House is set in a quiet peaceful location definitely recommend. Only critic we had was the main lights in the middle twin room flickered so had to use the lamps instead, bulbs just need replacing. Overall lovely property with plenty of parking.
