Autumn and Winter can bring rainy days, but they don’t have to ruin your holiday in North Cornwall! Here are our tips for what to get up to when it’s raining.

1) Book a surf lesson

Whether it’s rain or sunshine, the sea is always a good idea. Head to Polzeath beach to book yourself and the family in for a fun surf lesson with Wavehunters surf school.

2) Go to the cinema

The Regal Cinema in Wadebridge has been screening films since 1931 and is a great idea for a rainy day. Showing everything from latest releases to old classics, there is always something for the whole family.

3) Take a day trip to the Eden Project

With two indoor biomes, an indoor ice staking rink open from October – February, cafes and soft play areas, the Eden Project is perfect for a day trip when it is raining. Learn about different plants from all over the world, attend various exciting events and maybe even try England’s longest zip wire!

4) See baby lobsters!

Just over the Camel Estuary in Padstow, the National Lobstery Hatchery can be found. This marine conservation, research and education charity is a short ferry ride away from Rock and is a wonderful place to visit. See baby lobsters and learn all about them and the great work this centre does.

5) Visit the local pub

Nothing beats a cosy pub meal, especially when it’s cold outside. For those in Rock, why not try The Mariners Public House for Michelin chef Paul Ainsworth’s dishes, or The Pityme Inn for hearty pub classics. In Port Isaac, The Golden Lion is definitely a great place to spend the afternoon and if you are in Polzeath, the Oystercatcher is a trendy spot serving fantastic meals!

6) Bounce the day away

Another great place for a day trip is iBounce in Bodmin. Open all year and with 66 trampolines, interactive light games, and their all new skywalk it’s set to be hours of fun!

7) Indoor swimming at The Point at Polzeath

Boasting a 20m pool with a toddler area, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, there is something for everyone at The Point at Polzeath. Spend the day practising your swimming, teaching your little ones and relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna.
