“On the whole, a lovely property, in a location with an amazing view of the beach and coastline.”

And wild bunnies in the garden - so sweet! No major gripes at all, but a few little things... like the two clocks in the kitchen and living room not working and showing the wrong time. And the hedge next to the path to the front door was overgrown and blocking the path. One of the two hooks on the master bedroom door was missing. These things I'm sure would be easy to fix, but would make a difference. Those little finishing touches...

“Thank you so much for a lovely stay at Millbank.”

I brought our dog with us this time, as we are allowed to now, and he loved it. Lots of walks to Daymer and Pentire. Millbank has a lovely feeling about it and we were able to relax and enjoy our time there. I have been coming to Polzeath since I was a child, nearly 60 years now, lots of changes over the years but still my favourite destination for a relaxing holiday. All things being equal, I will be back again to Millbank later in the year, and hopefully for many more years to come.

The property

Millbank is a detached holiday cottage situated in an elevated position overlooking Polzeath Bay in North Cornwall, with open split level terracing with railings and a parking area. Set in a really convenient location; just a five-minute walk from the beach and all the village amenities, Millbank is ideal for a group of surfers or beach lovers looking for a seaside base from where they can make the most of all the area has to offer. The holiday cottage will sleep 6 guests in 3 bedrooms with 1 bathroom.The master bedroom has a kingsize double bed with en-suite and a door leading out to the terrace. There are two further twin bedrooms and a kitchen providing all you need to create some tasty meals for busy days in the fresh Cornish air or the exhilarating surf. There is a bright, light lounge/dining room with wonderful views of the sea, across to Pentire Point and Newland. The comforting presence of a wood burner will give you much needed warmth on your return from the outdoor elements on chilly winter days.Polzeath has lots of good places to eat all just a stroll away, from fish and chips to seafood specials. There is a well-stocked mini supermarket that also has many delicatessen style goodies and a fine selection of wines. Great beach shops selling fashion, gifts or homewares are good for a browse, decent coffee and delicious ice creams are available to take onto the beach to enjoy. Once weekly on summer evenings the local silver band takes up residence in the car park and the timeless sounds carry all the way across the beach. If you want to explore the North coast a bit more then we recommend heading over to Daymer Bay, a calm and sheltered bathing beach just around the coast path, that children will love. Or you can head to Rock to try your hand at water sports including sailing, wake boarding or waterskiing. You can also catch the day ferry across to Padstow harbour from here and maybe hire some bikes to cycle the camel trail?Accommodation: Sitting Room/Dining Room Kitchen Shower Room/W.C. POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
