“What a gem of a place!”

The most perfect location, very comfortable with everything you need and beautiful views. We would love to rent it again from you. I did email Sykes Cottages and ask if they provided a BBQ which they said there was not one there and it is first thing I saw when I arrived!! Not to worry. The children loved the garden and the whole feel of the place was very welcoming.

“A lovely place to stay plenty of room.”

Great location but anyone with mobility issues will struggle with steps, unfortunately at night the lights on steps don’t work. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and new carpets. Blinds in living room and TV in master bedroom didn’t work, but neither concerned us. Overall a great place to stay. Sky sport a bonus. We most definitely would use again.

“The Wrens needs some TLC and I thought it was overpriced for what it was.”

Great location in terms of beach access. The kitchen had very fancy over complicated appliances for a holiday let (coffee machine, steam oven which I doubt anyone uses) but the actual oven was of very poor quality. It takes hours to cook anything. The kitchen also needs some additional small sharp knives. It currently has 2 but 1 of these was broken and therefore quite dangerous. There is no garlic press. The batteries in the remote controllers were dead so we had to buy our own. The overhead lights in the twin beds don’t work. They have multiple spot lights out around the house. We lost all our hot water however JB came out very quickly to sort. The following day, all the downstairs lights went out and again JB came out to sort but this was after a stern phone call. It would just seem this property is quite neglected and we wouldn’t rent again.

“We had a brilliant week at The Wrens, and we were generally very impressed with the house.”

However there were a couple of things worth noting: In the 2nd twin bedroom the mattresses do not fit the beds - they hang over the edge by about 20cm. I tried to adjust this myself but could not. The shower in the master bathrooms' waste was not properly fixed and needs replacing. The laundry room was stuffed with lots of item and although totally usable was not very attractive to use, with a few shelves this could be made a really decent space, it just felt very messy. I would also say that the understairs cupboard was messily organise and could easily be left much more attractive. I hope this is helpful and constructive feedback as our overall feeling for the house was that it was a great family space.

The property

The Wrens is a modern holiday house located near the end of a private road in the heart of Polzeath on the North Cornwall coast.

Recently refurbished, this stylish and contemporary property is just a few minutes walk from the popular surfing beach of Polzeath.

A large, tiered garden is perfect for garden games and the full width furnished terrace is ideal for family meals and drinks on a balmy evening.

A wonderful seaside break for family and friends, the light and bright bedrooms sleep 8 people in 4 bedrooms.The bright open plan kitchen/diner and sitting area has patio doors leading onto the terrace giving an extra sense of space; a sheltered spot to enjoy lunch in the garden or plan your day over morning coffee.

Most of the accommodation is found on the ground floor level with both twin bedrooms that share a family bathroom and a small double bedroom with an ensuite shower.

The master bedroom has the luxury of space, taking all of the first floor paired with a spacious ensuite shower room.

Polzeath has one of the best surfing beaches paired with its golden sand and plenty of rock pools for the kids.

A choice of delicious restaurants and cafes situated around the beach whether its an evening meal out with friends or all the family.

Take a stroll over to Rock on the South West Coast Path for other on and off the water based activities to enjoy including the renowned St. Enodoc golf course, sailing and water skiing on the Camel Estuary, or windsurfing at Daymer Bay.

Relax and pamper yourself in one of the local Spas or take a bike ride along the stunning Camel Trail with great bird watching opportunities along the way.

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
