“We had a very poor experience at the hands of Sykes.”

Sykes' call centre is not fit for purpose. Whilst the people are nice, everything falls through the cracks when they need to contact the local John Bray office. On a separate occasion, we had a leak so I called the number provided, I was still on hold by the time I had waked into the JB office on Rock Road. The staff apologised and were embarrassed about this poor service. The local team had a plumber round immediately. Skyes need to up their game or decentralise. The outdoor dining table and ...

On a separate occasion, we had a leak so I called the number provided, I was still on hold by the time I had waked into the JB office on Rock Road. The staff apologised and were embarrassed about this poor service. The local team had a plumber round immediately. Skyes need to up their game or decentralise. The outdoor dining table and chairs (in the photos) was not provided. The upstairs bedroom has no blinds so you cannot get it dark. Similarly the other bedrooms have such thin curtains that light floods in. They provide privacy but not darkness. There is an annoying mechanical ventilation system which creates white noise. The generic house instructions booklet does not tell you where you can turn it off. Otherwise, a really great house.

How reviews work

The property

Moorlands Bungalow is a contemporary, detached self-catering holiday home tucked behind the main Rock Road in Cornwall.

The property hosts a pretty garden with a patio area, perfect for playing garden games or to soak up the Cornish sunshine.

Comprising four bedrooms, mainly found on the ground floor, Moorlands Bungalow is a perfect family base from which to experience the best of the North Cornwall coast.

The open-plan living space enables you to prepare family meals, then enjoy your culinary creations either in the dining area or outside on the patio in the sunshine.

Filled with light, the ground floor is segmented into three areas which include a choice of comfortable seating under the conservatory or to stretch out on the sofa watching your favourite film.

Open up the patio doors and let the outside in from the patio and garden, light the fire pit or barbecue on those cooler evenings with friends whilst enjoying a glass of wine.

Climb the spiral staircase to the master bedroom with en-suite, the views out through the glass panel into the garden are something to be admired.

The remaining three bedrooms are all on ground-floor level.

A perfectly placed holiday house for exploring this part of Cornwall, you are within walking distance of the Camel Estuary at Rock, the St Enodoc Gold Course and so close to the child-friendly beach of Daymer Bay and the more exhilarating waters of Polzeath.

Walkers will adore the local coastal paths; or try the circular route from Port Quin to Port Isaac, and explore the pretty fishing harbour.

Take a stroll down to Rock beach and hop on the Rock ferry to the harbour port of Padstow.

Knowing Moorlands Bungalow is the place you are returning to after your busy day will be comforting.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
