“We loved the house and fully enclosed garden, it was ideally positioned for walking our dog on the beach and for the local pubs and shops.”

We didn’t need to drive anywhere which was marvelous. The house was warm with the extra radiators provided, and the king bed was super comfy. We had a super time and are very likely to rebook next year if available.

The property

A unique, charming Grade 2 listed Cornish farmhouse, with origins as a Grey Friars monastic settlement. Porthilly Greys has been carefully refurbished as a holiday home including an updated kitchen and bathroom, whilst keeping its original features with slate floors and low ceilings. Offering well-equipped accommodation, the main house sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, and can house up to 10 guests when booking the separate newly refurbished annex above the detached garage (additional cost upon request). With sunny south-facing gardens and a slate terrace, Porthilly Greys is located less than 200 metres from Porthilly Cove set on the Camel estuary on the stunning North Cornwall coast. There is off-road parking for 3 cars and family pets may stay too. Park up and forget about your car with the Rock beach, restaurants and even the ferry to Padstow all within easy walking distance from Porthilly Greys. The characterful sitting room with a coastal twist is the perfect place to sit and unwind in front of a roaring open fire with all the family after a busy day exploring what North Cornwall has to offer. Buy some mussels or oysters from Porthilly farm nearby and cook them up in the spacious modern farmhouse kitchen for a simple and delicious meal. The suntrap terrace gives ample space for dining alfresco on a sunny day whilst the children are playing games in the secluded, enclosed garden. The first floor possesses four comfortable bedrooms; one with a king size bed, a further two doubles and a twin bedroom that share a contemporary family bathroom off the corridor. Conveniently located for a seaside holiday, stroll straight onto Porthilly beach with your four-legged friend; walk as far as you like before stopping for a picnic in the sand dunes or sheltered beach side cove. Perfectly positioned for lots of water-based activities, Rock boasts a sailing club, a sailing school plus a water-ski school and is an easy spot for kayaking and fashionable paddle-boarding. Rock village is very well serviced with a bakery, butcher and fishmonger, but the market town of Wadebridge is only a 15 minute drive away for an interesting choice of shops, many of them independent.
