The property

** Newly refurbished to include linen and towels, pets by arrangement and a hot tub (at an extra cost, please contact the office for details).** As its name implies, First and Last was originally the first building to be seen on entering Port Isaac's old village and the last on the way out. Set at the top of Rose Hill, it is now a deceptively spacious, detached converted barn oozing character and charm. Offering comfortable accommodation, suitable for a family of four in two bedrooms with two bathrooms. A fabulous location for exploring Port Isaac and Port Gaverne while being only a short drive from Rock and the Camel Estuary, the sandy cove of Daymer Bay and the rolling surf of Polzeath. South facing hidden garden and private terrace with the luxury of a brand new hot tub (at an extra cost, please contact the office for details). The property also benefits from two parking spaces. The interior has been refurbished to an extremely high standard retaining evidence of its old barn origins to include a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and rafters in the open plan living room/kitchen. The well equipped kitchen is the ultimate balance of modern and rustic decor boasting quality German appliances to include Dualit kettle and toaster and has everything needed to cook up a storm after a busy day beside the sea. Snuggle down on one of the gererous seats in the comfy sitting area and why not light the woodburner on a chilly day. The lower ground floor offers a King sized bedroom and seperate shower room and a twin bedroom with a beautiful en-suite bathroom with double ended bath and shower attachment over. Both bedrooms benefit from exposed beams and bathrooms fitted with self demisting mirrors and contactless lighting. Tastefully furnished and decorated throughout, creating a lovely space for a family holiday. Port Isaac or 'Port Wenn' as it has now become quite well known (after its many appearances on ITV's Doc Martin series) is a popular TV and film location because of its scenic setting. Centuries old, fisherman's cottages are huddled around the busy working fishing harbour joined by narrow alleys and tiny lanes winding down the steep hillsides. The pretty cottage used for Doc Martins home/surgery is just across the village and up towards the top of Roscarrock hill. Nearby Port Gaverne, easily walkable from the barn is a lovely sheltered cove for swimming or enjoying drinks or food from the Inn. A 20 minute drive away lies the town of Wadebridge, where all the usual town amenities can be found including an indoor swimming pool and a cinema.Ground Floor: Boot Room Open plan Sitting room/kitchen Lower Ground Floor: Bedroom 1: King size bed (5ft) Shower room/WC Bedroom 2: Twin beds (3ft) with en-suite Bath/Shower/WC Pets by arrangement.PLEASE NOTE: The water for the hot tub is completely changed every changeover, so the hot tub will take at least 24 hours to get to full temperature. Water samples are collected for regulatory testing on the second Tuesday of every month between the hours of 10am and 2pm

About the location

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6 miles; Padstow 9 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
