This stay was different due to the property lacking a good clean. Outside bins had not been emptied and the BBQ was dirty. An old pair of sliders remained by the back door and clothing in the drawer from a Previous occupant. But amongst build up of unhygienic dirt next to the freezer I found the reason for being ill in your house. There is an horrendous build up of black spore mould behind the double bed. If I had seen this we would not have stayed and is completely intolerable. This made me very unwell. For your own benefit I would have thought the caretaker would be informing you and sorting the problem. Sorry to have to bring this to your attention! Did I mention the build up of hair in the shower? No but I reported it to Sykes. No one came to clean it!!!! All I can say is it left us alarmed. Not what you expect from a holiday and especially with COVID. I have photographed the mess and will pass on a complaint to Sykes. I just thought what a shame that your lovely house isn’t been looked after. I am Also pretty annoyed and dismayed with what we found.

Thank you for taking time to provide us with your feedback. This helps us to constantly improve our service for future guests. We apologise that the property was not cleaned to a satisfactory standard upon your arrival, I have forwarded these issues to the caretaking team to look into. We will also look into it why no one attended after you reported the issue with the shower. The mold will be addressed by our maintenance team. Again I am really sorry for the issues you encountered - John Bray Cornish Holiday’s on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

The property

Tamarisk is a delightful two bedroom, south facing, detached bungalow set in its own beautifully maintained, enclosed gardens enjoying some sea and village views. Only a few minutes walk down to Port Isaac's quaint working fishing harbour, restaurants shops and galleries. A perfect Cornish getaway where the famous Fisherman's Friends live, play and work and recognisable actors can be spotted in the summer months before, after and during filming in this still unspoilt picturesque village. Very suitable for a young family as it sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms with 1 bathroom and even allows for the family pet to join the holiday. Tamarisk is an attractive white washed cottage with a slate roof and the enclosed garden offers peace of mind for parents of young children or dog owners. The kitchen, dining room and the sitting room all have sea views, and are equipped with everything you'll need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. On wintry evenings the wood-burning stove will provide warmth and atmosphere for romantic couples or a place to relax for parents after a day entertaining the small people. Garage parking for one vehicle approximately a 5 -10 minute walk away (entrance door to garage height 7' width 7'4"). Please ask us if you want to chat about this before booking. Port Isaac has all the usual village amenities for your everyday needs and even has a small supermarket. Fresh fish can be bought directly from the fish sellers by the harbour so barbeques on the terrace couldn't be closer from source! Sunny days could be spent swimming in the clear waters of Port Gaverne's sheltered cove. Hours could be whiled away with fishing nets exploring the many rock-pools revealed on low tides. For energetic walkers and enthusiastic dogs the coastal paths are a treat for bird watchers and for a lucky few, possible sightings of seals, dolphins or even basking sharks.Accommodation: Dining Room with sea views Sitting Room with sea views Kitchen, sea views Bedroom 1: King size (5ft) Bedroom 2: Twin beds Shower Room/WC Pets by arrangement. PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6 miles; Padstow 9 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
