“Great location near the centre of the village- the gulls are very noisy in this part of PI (we've stayed in PI many times), but we accepted that to be conveniently located.”

The cottage offers good value, it was clean, comfortable, the kitchen appliances were of good quality (the fridge has a small freezer compartment- big enough for ice for drinks), the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and fairly new. The cottage is well maintained, bright and cosy. It's small, but was fine for 4 of us; it would benefit from a washer dryer as drying facilites are limited to a small back yard, and the front garden area needs a tidy up. The biggest advantage for us ...

It's small, but was fine for 4 of us; it would benefit from a washer dryer as drying facilites are limited to a small back yard, and the front garden area needs a tidy up. The biggest advantage for us was being so near the harbour- just a stroll from restaurants and pubs (we highly recomend the Chapel Cafe for daytime, and The Moat for evening meals), and so easy to visit the beach or just stroll around the village. We paid extra for a parking space, which was well worth it- day visitors queue for parking, so we were able to visit Wadebridge for shopping and not worry about losing our parking space. We had a great week, and would definitely book this cottage again.

The property

** From January 2021 there is a parking space at the top of the village available at an extra cost - please contact the office on 01208 880302 for further details.** Brakestone Cottage takes its name from a granite pillar where carts were wedged while loading fishing nets. Located on a traditional pedestrian street in the heart of Port Isaac, this attractive fisherman's cottage, with small slate patio to the front, is just a stone's throw from the bustling harbour where the fishing boats land their daily catch. Stylishly furnished throughout, it sleeps 4 to 6 people in 3 bedrooms. Relax in the cosy open plan living room/kitchen; light the wood-effect electric fire and snuggle down on cooler summer evenings. Visit the fish market in the village cook yourself something quick and easy in the well-equipped compact kitchen. An elegant blue and white decorated bedroom on the first floor has a double bed, while 2 bright twin bedded rooms with partly vaulted ceilings are to be found on the second floor.A plum location within North Cornwall's designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Port Isaac is a picturesque, atmospheric and historic fishing village dating back from the 18th Century. A lovely place to wander around soaking up the architecture, there are superb cafes and restaurants and a characterful old pub, The Golden Lion, where you can enjoy a local brew on the balcony overlooking the beach. Those wanting more energetic pursuits could stroll around to Port Gaverne beach for some wild swimming or canoeing; or carry on hiking the coastal path as far as you like to appreciate the dramatic cliffs and coves of this part of the coast. For a change of scenery, explore the North coast and hop in the car to nearby Polzeath or Trebarwith for surfable waves, or gentle Daymer Bay perfect for paddling with smaller children and lazy picnics on the beach. Watersport fans should make a bee-line for Rock, with its sailing club and waterski school, also the ferry across to Padstow harbour.Ground Floor Open plan Sitting room/kitchen First Floor Bedroom 1: Double bed Bath/Shower/WC Second Floor Bedroom 2: Twin beds Bedroom 3: Twin beds Sorry No Pets - we cannot guarantee pets have not stayed in this property. Please note: The stairs to the first and second floors are steep so care should be taken with small children and the elderly. PORT ISAAC

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

Please note: The stairs to the first and second floors are very steep and may not be suitable for children, the elderly or people with a mobility problem. Care should also be taken with children and the elderly. Linen and towels are NOT provided.
